I bought a package of "Dockside Classics" Premium Crab Cakes at Safeway. I heated them and found that they are devoid of any crab flavor. After a taste my wife and I threw them out. The ingredients are listed as crab and surimi fish protein. I called the producer and asked for my money back. That was six weeks ago and I haven't heard from them.since. Save your money. .

Read the Fine Print, crab cakes labeled Premium, Made with Real Crabmeat but should really be labeled made with a blend of real crab and artificially flavored fish protein. The package photo shows flakes of crab meat but the cooked product shows mostly bread crumb filler with threads of what might be crab or the surimi crab flavored fish protein. If this was a dockside restaurant and they served anything but 100% crab meat cakes, I would be offended. There should be a law forces companies to labeled the percent of key ingredients short of giving away the recipe.

My housemate and I were co-hosting a small dinner party. We bought a package of these crab cakes, and a breaded shrimp product of the same brand for appetizers. Both of the Dockside Classic products were HORRIBLE. Not only a disappointment, but a huge embarrassment in front of our guests. The crab cakes should be called cake cakes, because none of us could detect ANY crab at all. We couldn't see it, we couldn't taste it, and we couldn't feel any crab texture when we bit into them. It was just breading. Soggy, nasty, undercooked breading (even though we cooked them exactly according to the directions on the package). The breaded shrimp were almost as bad. The tiny shrimp were buried in a giant mound of breading. Every scraped it off and just ate the little shrimp. Will NEVER, EVER by a Dockside Classic product again.
