I'm giving 4 stars for the very cold beer (excellent); the friendly, efficient greeter and waitress; the quaint/clean environment. I would give my meal 3 stars. I had the ravioli...four large disks, filled with beef, surrounded by marinara, served with brussel sprouts. The ravioli pasta was al dente with tough edges; the beef stuffing was pureed and luke warm; the marinara was oily; only 3 brussel sprouts on the plate. I'm willing to try again though...my husband thoroughly enjoyed his dish (chicken pesto).

Great service. Great brunch. Pizzas are fantastic.

While its marquee pays tribute to the official tree of Washington DC, this 2-year old restaurant (conveniently located a few blocks from the Nationals Stadium) proudly goes up to bat and scores in creating culinary goodness, noteworthy wine & spirits and decor that exemplifies classy casual dining to punctuate its conveniently accessible Navy Yard location. The cuisine at Scarlet Oak perfectly pairs with impressive wine and spirits selections. The servers are very attentive to the needs of patrons. Between its tasty brick oven pizza selections, scrumptious bar bites including curry shrimp, roasted brussel sprouts and fresh mussels, the dining experience delightfully exceeds expectations. White walls, colorful artwork, tufted banquettes and communal tables add to its winning appeal as it melds its presence with the modern aesthetics of city living.

This place had a clean, modern interior atmosphere but the real stars were the staff. Our server was very attentive and friendly from start to finish. The food was good but I'm not the most discerning eater, to me just about everything tastes great, nonetheless it was delicious. Restrooms were also clean, thought I'd throw that in because this place has a bar and most reviews never mention restroom cleanliness.

Based on my one experience in February 2020, I would go there again and recommend it to friends. I went with a buddy after work and we both had a very positive first impression upon entering. It was fairly quiet at 6 pm on a Wednesday but by 7:30 there were quite a few patrons having a good time. The food was very good (I had the salmon and my friend had the shrimp & grits). The service was pretty good but they didn't wow me. It's a relaxed, low key atmosphere and, as I have found typical for a place like this in the District, wearing a suit or jeans is fine; the servers were in jeans and tee shirts. I would not consider Scarlet Oak for a quiet romantic dinner but I would definitely recommend for dinner & drinks after work or before a baseball or hockey game. I will likely return and update my review if they continue to impress.

Love the brunch here! They've got a solidly good menu, and I've never left disappointed.

Went for lunch and ordered house salad with salmon. The salmon was underwhelming...dry and unseasoned. Very little staff on hand so it took forever to flag someone down for the check. Hopefully this was a one off experience.

It's not too often my wife and I are split on how we'd rate a restaurant. I give it a three because the decorations are a little too simple and the food just mediocre. DC is filled with GREAT food now, which raises the bar high. Scarlet Oak is good, but doesn't meet the high bar. My fried chicken benedict was good looking, but just not salted properly or have much of any flavor. However, my wife is on the search for DC's best French Toast and swears Scarlet Oak has it. She loved her French Toast! We'll be back to give it a second chance!

Very nice environment. Looks like the place for a date nights, romantic, with good food. Had brunch office party there and they accommodated a pretty large group of people with very good care.

The food and service was amazing! We had a large group and not one complaint about their food. I Ordered the salmon, asparagus, and brussel sprouts and it tasted great! Also, the ambience was very nice. We definitely recommend this restaurant and will come back again!

Nice local hang out. Grabbed a late meal near my hotel. Had cocktail, mussels & parmesan fries. Tasty. Great service.

I got the steak and asparagus salad. They were very generous with the steak. It was delicious. I also got an apple mule, which was good. Serve was good. Nice ambiance.

The service here for happy hour is always very friendly and it's week-long (or at least on Sunday). I'd hard pressed to say the food is above and beyond or that I know anything about the wine selection, but that's more a judgment on me. In a neighborhood of packed chain restaurant happy hours it's worth a shot and most like a neighborhood bar there is!
