Samurai Hibachi & Sushi Bar

Highly overrated, despite the many seemingly excellent reviews. We are regular Japanese food connoisseurs, at least once a week, so would like to think we have eaten enough to know what good looks like. For this visit to Sakura, we found the sushi mediocre and the rice was cold (which should be slightly warm). Noodle soup was bland and dear at more than eleven quid. The tempura and squid balls were reasonable but in general all the portions were less than generous considering the prices. The ambience is nice but unfortunately the food isn't anything to shout about, so we won't be coming back.

What an experience! This place is a nice place to have some good food and a laugh with friends. Service was excellent and price was reasonable. The restaurant was downstairs wasn't sure on disabled access. They do have a toilet facility.

We booked a table last year, as we were going to an event at the Winchester theatre on the same night. The restaurant has changed its name from Sakura to Samurai! We were the 1st diners to be seated in the new upstairs part of the restaurant, which was clean but cold. The food was lovely recommend the mussels & tempura prawns & the plum wine. Didn't see the lower dining area where the tempanyaki cooking area is, maybe next time.
