Happy I was finally able to try this place! I tried the Baykin sandwich, and it was filling. The plain cream cheese lacked flavor. I wouldn't mind trying the flavored one for next time. Other than that, the pickle they gave with it was very crunchy. They have some available tables with seats. Takeout was fast and easy.

We ordered the Yiddish Que, the Levin Reuben, and the grasshopper tub. The sandwiches were delicious, especially the Yiddish Que! Vegan meats can be chewy but the Yiddish Que does it extremely well. The grasshopper was rich and tasty. Would recommend a visit if you're in the area. We've also tried K'alish next door but prefer Sam & Gertie's.

I had the PLOTZKER sandwich and potato salad. It was excellent! Great service, friendly staff. I will definitely be back.

Food is amazing. People are amazing. Absolutely love this place. 10/10 across the board. Yum!

The service here seemed unwelcoming. Not sure if the cashier did not, for whatever reason, like me individually; but, I definitely noticed an obvious difference in her attitude in exchanges with other customers. Food was alright. It was fresh, expensive, and I tipped appropriately, but I don’t see myself coming back here. Overheard that there was perhaps a change in location/staffing from their original location prior to Covid? Maybe the original service was better.

I'm so excited that this place is finally open, and it's better than I could've ever imagined. Food is absolutely phenomenal, the people even more so. It's got a welcoming, friendly atmosphere, with a mindblowingly delicious vegan twist on Jewish deli food. Fans of Kālish rejoice; it just might be the best vegan joint in Uptown.

I don’t know where to begin. The only vegan Jewish Deli in town and they nailed it. You will have a hard time choosing something only because it’s all so good. Had the The BayKin, Klasish latkes, and potato salad for lunch and I wanted to go back for dinner. Everyone is totally on their A game, very clean and they take COVID seriously. Outside patio available to wait while they get your food ready. Can’t wait to try everything on the menu!

Sam & Gerties has an extensive menu and is a wonderful options for an assured vegan diet. They flavor their seitan and other meat substitutes to give you an authentic deli feel as you bite into your sandwich, bagel or dessert. I will keep having to explore the menu, but I was not that impressed by the flavor of the food. I had the Reuben, and my friend had another sandwich and both felt a bit bland and underwhelming for our taste and the price. I do however love their bagels and again love that they are an inclusive option with vegan and gluten free foods! I look forward to continuing to find something I like there consistently, and them exploring flavors in their menu

Love the concept (vegan Jewish deli) but wasn’t sure what to expect. Very much exceeded my expectations. Ordered the Schwartz sandwich and a chicken noodle soup. Both the sandwich and soup were super yummy and good size. The vegan pastrami was great. Was pretty busy when we came around 12pm. Really enjoyed it here

I absolutely love going to Jewish deli’s! It is a highlight of my trip when I get to go to a proper deli and have delicious food. Well, in the last few years that has been difficult with being vegan and finding deli deliciousness…NOT ANYMORE! Sam & Gertie’s was amazing! I got the Baykin and I was in heaven. They were so kind and I had to have some egg salad …ummm eggless salad. 4 years ago I was sad to say goodbye to egg salad when I had to go vegan, but now I can say “Hello again old friend!” The eggless salad is wonderful and worth every moment of splendor I had while devouring it! To anyone who has stopped by, I ask why not? The staff was very friendly, the seats clean, the establishment warm, and the food phenomenal! Thank you so much for giving me a reason to brave the elements in the morning!

Really great food! I'm not a vegan but I like trying new things and this shop is close to my apartment. I ordered the Schwartz which is vegan cornbeef based sandwich with a small cup of potato salad and lays chips. I wish the switch the lays for kettle chips but overall really good! The owner walked around giving free samples of their pizza and I was shocked how good it was! As a non-vegan I could barely tell this was vegan and will come back to try more!
