Luke makes the Salty Dog one of the finest local restaurants in Boston. The bacon-wrapped scallops are a meal unto themselves. The lightly breaded calamari is outstanding. The Oysters Rockefeller is excellent. All the above pair well with the Salty Dog's long standing offering of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc.Check out the Salty Dog, a Boston tradition since 1972.

Basement joint in the marketplace shops, these are usually pretty interesting. Stop in, take a seat at the bar and ask the bartender for a local brew. He pours me a glass of harpoon, goes down easy, nice. Time for dinner so I order the calamari plate, not bad with fries and another harpoon to finish smooth.

Food was GREAT. The location allows for higher prices, because they know people will pay it. That doesn't mean it wasn't worth it. Their special Salty Dog beer was good, the food was fantastic, and the chowder was fine, the service was...personality driven. Would recommend.

Came here for a lobster roll and it did not disappoint! Their rolls are cold (I guess theres hot rolls too? Idk I'm not from NE) and served with slaw and fries. You get a TON of lobster on the roll so it's worth the $20+ price tag. I ended up sitting at the bar top outside on a gorgeous day and the service was great. Food came out quickly as well. I would recommend chilling here for a while and people watching in the square right outside the fence I. Quincy Market.

Very tasty food, we enjoyed the main lobster sandwich. Clam chowder and a Couhog off the appetizer menu. Sooo good!

We didn't stay because the bar seating is tiny and there weren't free seats. It is 3 rooms in a basement. However it old and supposedly good. Literally you walk through the edge of the kitchen.

Yes, it is right in the heart of the tourist zone, but I live nearby and this is one of my favorites for seafood. The service is excellent as well!

I am very picky about calm chowder, and the Salty Dog did not disappoint. Absolutely delicious. A cup of that, a round of oysters, and some of the excellent fried calamari, and i was a very happy visitor. There are plenty of places to get good chowder in Boston, but i will be coming back here.
