RuRu's Tacos + Tequila

Came here Monday (November 11) for lunch. The restaurant wasn’t that busy and I was seated immediately. I ordered a strawberry margarita and guacamole with chips and salsa as an appetizer. The margarita was OK and I enjoyed the taste of the guacamole. The salsa was decent and could’ve been spicier but I do get they have to cater to everyone. I ordered 2 chicken tacos without the sauce on top (I just put salsa on) and while they were good I should’ve ordered corn tortillas but it totally slipped my mind. Overall the meal was good especially being that it’s not true authentic Mexican food.

My friends and I just stumbled upon this place while exploring Charleston and were instantly drawn in by the menu. The food is fun and unique, with plenty of tacos to be tried. Oh, and get the cheese dip. You won't regret it.

I have been to many different taco places across the world. I would have to say this place is in the top 5 of all the places I’ve been to, and the #1 in Charleston. One tip, make sure to order your tacos with corn tortillas...it’s the best way to have a taco; flour tortillas = NOT a taco. I would also recommend the quesadilla with steak and mushrooms-phenomenal, and make sure to order a skinny margarita!! Hands down, great service, great food, great place.

Beyond disappointed! Is the food good? Yes it is. Are there a lot of options? Yes! However, the service has been HORRIFIC... EVERY time I've gone. I'm not one to complain about things taking time as I know sometimes things happen beyond the servers control. I completely get that, however when it takes 40 minutes just to get chips and salsa there's an issue. I was there for almost 2 hours and never even got to order dinner and was only able to order 1 drink. Not to mention the servers were cursing at each other out in the open (not sure specifically what they were angry about) and the bartender was incredibly hostile to another couple sitting beside us. We've given it many chances and sadly won't be returning.

We tried this place for the first time on Saturday. We found it just searching places downtown to try that we haven’t yet and decided on this one based on the hilarious menu item names. Our table tried one of almost everything and everybody was happy with their order. The quesadilla was huge. The bowl and salad were also really big. I went with the steak burrito and it was definitely enough food. The tacos (2 to an order I think) were a little smaller, but they aren’t very expensive so you can try different ones if you’re still hungry. I had their skinny margaritas and they were consistently good. We had a good experience and our server had a great personality.

The staff is very friendly and kind and the service is really nice! It's a cool and fun environment to be spending some good time while in Charleston!

My experience at Ru Ru’s was beyond phenomenal. From Erica’s service at the bar, the manager’s endearing concerns for my food allergies, and the impeccable food! I not only recommend Ru Ru’s, you need to go. They made my entire night. I suffer from extreme food allergies and they went above and beyond to ensure there was not any cross-contamination and to reassure me that I was safe to eat their food. I am so impressed with their professionalism and unique food style!
