The Columbia downtown Publix Supermarket Bakery is great. As with most bakeries, morning visits is the best time to purchase fresh baked goods. If I order a birthday cake, I will purchase it most likely from Publix.

The Columbia downtown store has free parking for customers near the store entrance. Although the store is addressed 501 Gervais Street, it is accessible from three side streets. From Gervais Street, take Pulaski Street to the parking lot on the left. From Lady Street, take Pulaski Street and enter the parking lot to the right. From Huger Street take either Geddes Street to the parking lot on the right or take Lady Street to Pulaski Street, turn right and enter the parking lot on the right.
