We had 2 bowls of porridge, chicken mushroom and the sausage. Go with the chicken mushroom. It was very good and worth every penny. Between the 2 desserts the mochi was ridiculously delicious. The puffs were good. However, the iced coffee is waaay too expensive. Its $4 for a small glass that filled with 60% ice. That said I'll be back but fully caffeinated prior to arrival.

The place was pretty and the staff were quite hospitable. But in terms of food, to be fair, there's too much hype. The porridge was a poor try at "innovating" authentic Chinese porridge - or call it a farce of risotto as you may, and fyi the meat was quite dry. I also didn't get the point of the puffs. The only nice thing in this meal was perhaps the spätzle, but I suppose that there are many tastier and more honest things in the market for you to choose from.P.S. Two girls served the entire restaurant on Saturday noon during our visit, so be prepared for a wait before anything comes to your table.

Limited hours for the soft opening, but find a way to make it here!

The porridge was bit bland for me. But I guess in more used to the jook Thai style. These were tasty but I still wanted a bit more flavor out of them. I also feel like they made them a bit too upscale, I just want the authentic porridge that you find on the streets! The puff was delicious!Right on the corner with no sign out front. Only street parking.

PINCH $20 cash special on Thursdays!! Was delicious and so happy to hear about it! ————So happy this moved into the neighborhood! Was very skeptical when I found on eater that this moved in. Seemed interesting but would it be worth a second visit? It absolutely is. Went for Sunday brunch. Was surprised at how delicious and flavorful everything is! We decided to try a little bit of everything: Vietnamese cold brew, hibiscus shrub, the slaw, cucumbers, Szechuan shakshouka, eggs meurrette, bread pudding, and brown butter mocha. Loved everything we got that we weren't able to stop eating. Good food takes time so order the little salad appetizers if you're starving. Service was super friendly and although the porridge's can take some time, they were definitely worth the wait!

Be ready to experience the cool breeze of the air conditioning, and pay $14 for a tea.The Poultry + Mushroom Porridge is the best plate if its your first time here.Be ready to practice your patience and challenge your taste buds. Its an excellent opportunity to try new things if you are a typical burger and fries type of person.

This place was fantastic, everything on point (food, customer service, vibe). Wasn’t the cheapest but on par with Pine and Crane. BYOB. Excited to go back!By the way - a review mentioned a $14 tea and that’s not true. There is, however, a $14 fermented tea salad which is delicious and highly recommended!

The decor is simple and clean. I had the poultry+mushroom with a shiso pickled soft egg. The egg was tasty as well as beautiful to look at! Delish.

Small, nicely decorated place in LA - look for a building with white bricks! Inside felt spacious due to the high ceiling.Poultry and Mushroom Porridge - very delicious porridge made from veggie stock. Soy glazed chicken was delicious and the extra hibiscus shiso grilled egg ($2) was a great addition.Eggs Meurrette + Black Sweet Rice - a crispy black rice pilaf with some beans in it topped with crispy shallots. The dish next to it had the soft eggs (a little runnier than poached) in the ride wine sauce. Very delicious since the sauce was sweet but also was balanced by the fat.Would come again!

Very cute hole in the wall, kind of in the middle of nowhere. Unique dishes to choose from. I went on a Thursday which is a special night for them because they have a set menu. $20 cash at the door or $30 credit card. The salad was really good and bottomless! Squash, mixed greens cacao nibs and a very tasty beet dressing. The polenta dish had way too much polenta for my liking; too much carbs for me. Great presentation on all meals. Kind of a fun atmosphere. The puffs were very tasty.Street parking difficult!

Truly an unique food experience. We tried all five porridges on the lunch menu. Each is unique and phenomenal in their own ways. We have eaten around a bit and this place is one of the kind. Word of caution, portion size is smaller than what already is the norm in most new eateries. I am not sure how any grown person can be okay with less than 3 bowls 😬. Regardless, I highly recommend you to try Porridge and Puffs.

Porridge consistency and flavor was superb! Not thin at all and the thickness was thicc. Really well-seasoned on the saltiness. The pickled vegetables were good and add a nice brightness to the hearty congee. The puff was good but I much prefer the traditional Chinese donut (more hallow and oily - but tastes like childhood). The servers were really attentive. All in all really good porridge. But would not drive all the way to LA from OC to casually get porridge.
