Came here for a late lunch. The location is prime, right at the piers, almost everyone will pass by the Pioneer. This is a typical tourist trap. While the service is good and the selection of beers is great, the food is just mediocre. The batter of our fish and chips was so thick, the fish dry and over done. The chicken wings were dry, not juicy at all. The only highlight was the Caesar Salad. The romaine lettuce was fresh and crisp, they put the right amount of dressing. It was reasonably priced, but I wouldn't return. The restrooms are not well taken care of, really dirty!

BEST happy hour ever! Five dollar margaritas and Maitais, three dollar premium beers on top, a parrot on the Lanai and killer sky/sea views.

Sad commentary. They decided to take the best breakfast item off the menu- Macadamia Nut Pancakes and raise prices by 25% on everything else. AND, their second best item the Hawaiian Sweet Bread French Toast they changed the bread, the prep, and reduced the portion size, and raised the price 25%.

Great location with easy access as soon as you get off the ship. Rib eye steak sandwich was excellent. All seating is outside but lots of fans to keep you cool.

Wife and I sat down and ordered an appetizer and some waters. Five minutes later we got our waters and about another 45 minutes after that we got our appetizer. The food was ok and nothing more. The service was incredibly slow and nearly non-existent.

I came here for breakfast and it was damn delicious. Loved the courteousness of the staff. People here are so welcoming. Ordered Egg Sandwich Bagel with Potatoes on side - can be customized however you want it to be. The ambiance is great in this restaurant with vintage and rustic theme all over the place.

Really sad, this place used to be a solid 5 star. I should have seen this coming, as there is usually a wait for breakfast and we walked into a half empty restaurant. Apparently they changed their menu and removed several items, such as the macadamia nut pancakes. Also noticed that several of the regular waitresses were not there as well. The prices have gone up somewhat significantly as well. The plates we ordered were okay, nothing special like it used to be, and definitely not worth the increase in price.

We have come here for years and have loved it. Today we were told that the macadamia nut pancakes were taken off the menu - the new chef wanted something different. Instead there was a banana, caramel option. What??? I can get that in Minnesota! Please bring the pancakes back and the coconut syrup! The loco moco was good but not as good as before. There were tempura onions on it which were ok but the gravy was better before. The food was definitely “prettier” than before and insta-worthy I’m sure, but the true beauty of simple Hawaiian food is gone. My guess is a over zealous young chef who doesn’t understand the value of simplicity and tradition. We have a few restaurant we go to every time we’re on Maui. I’m sad to say this won’t be on the list anymore. 😥

Good fish and chips. Lots of breakfast options too. Right in front of the docks. The birds are entertaining mealtime companions

Spring rolls were tasty and the pork sliders were excellent. The fish tacos were overcooked (I thought they had accidentally made them with chicken, they were so tough) though the pico de gallo and avocado aioli were very tasty. The iced tea tasted freshly brewed although not very strong; I can't stand fountain tea and a lot of places around here seem to have it, so that was a nice surprise.

If you're looking for shiny and new, this is not the place. Most likely it is older than your grandparents. It was built in 1901 and, while well maintained, it has the issues you might expect. But it has wonderful breakfasts at really excellent prices for Maui. I had an omelet and my wife had the macadamia nut pancakes. Both were excellent! I'll especially recommend the pancakes. My wife loved them and I have in previous visits. They are huge and light. And, if they're not big enough, they are also made in the Big Kahuna size. At under $25, the meal was a bargain!Oh, and they also have a very vocal and sometimes rude parrot.
