Tasty BBQ pork, chicken & Brunswick stew. Lots of tables for seating in or out. Several local beers on tap as well as fountain drinks. Owner is a hat collector & license plate fanatic. Definitely will go back here again.

Wow. Haven't had this good of BBQ in years. I lived in Memphis for a while and can be a bit snobby about BBQ.. This did not disappoint. Fantastic family atmosphere too

Good food and space to move around. Booked the upper room for Dad's 60th bday. Stairs were a little hard on older people. The outside decks would be great on warmer days.

So NC! So BBQ! So delicious! We just stumbled on this unassuming humble restaurant and loved the slices brisket, sauces and hush puppies! Generous portions and a friendly counter guy Look at the ceiling and enjoy the hat collection! Rustic and wonderful! Stop here.

To me the BBQ is very good and I think it's the best in the area. I usually get the sample platter and it has a selection of the different types of meats they serve. It is plentiful and filling. I highly recommend it.

We stopped by while passing through one Sunday. The food was great and the employees all very friendly and accommodating. I ordered the chopped pork plate with mac and cheese and collard greens. We liked the atmosphere and the choice of regional sauces offered on the table. I recommend saving room for the homemade banana pudding dessert. We will make a point to come by next time we visit the mountains.

Stopped by after seeing a few billboards on the interstate. We all agreed it was a great call. Yummy BBQ & cool atmosphere. Hats off to Phil!

The sauces here were outstanding. So were the collards and fried okra. The BBQ however was disappointing. Both chopped beef and chopped pork had zero fat, which translates to dry meat. Their vinegar sauce, if the pork would have just had even a little fat, would have been the ultimate combo. Service here was excellent.

Food was good quick service . We had to take food to go due to the virus. So did not get complete experience

7/27/2019 I stopped here for lunch before riding to the Blue Ridge Parkway. I thought the food was good but nothing overly exciting. I had chopped chicken and chopped pork with potato salad and vinegar coleslaw. It came with hush puppies. They did have vinegar based bbq sauce to use which was delicious!

Heard a lot about Phil’s and it lived up to the reviews. Can’t wait to go back and try the ribs. Had the sampler plate. Sauces were very good. Tea was delicious. They do serve alcohol if you want that with your bbq. Staff very friendly and the atmosphere is fantastic!!

The food, people, atmosphere and place was AMAZING! The brisket literally melted in your mouth and the ribs are soooo good. The baked beans will make you wanna slap your momma and the collard greens has just the right about of tangy. The hush puppies are really good. Definitely, a must whenever you're traveling to Asheville. I will be back again.

The way your order is kind of a pain when there's a line. With that being said, the BBQ is amazing! Got the sampler which had pretty much everything. It was all very good. Absolutely worth the trip!
