Eggplant parmesan OK. Brady. Sauce was good. Spaghetti was done correctly, al dente. Shrimp were not fresh, somewhat fishy. Server didn't know what lite beers they had so told our guest "Budweiser should do it".

As a New York City native, saying this is my favorite restaurant means a lot. My family has been coming here since my parents moved to America, and it's still as welcoming as ever (even though the prices have raised over the years). The service is prompt and respectful, and the place is clean. As the bar is separate from the dining room, it's possible to have a meal without worrying about any "usual pub shenanigans" even tho the bar is usually orderly anyway. There's an additional back room for reservations, or when the place is nearing capacity. My only complaint would be the inaccessibility of the bathroom for people with disabilities, as it's down a set of tiny stairs. The bathrooms themselves are also small, only two stalls and in a small room in general. Nonetheless, Pete's is great for celebrations, and for giving a tourist a digestible experience of the New York life.

I had a Bulleit Whisky Sour on the rocks, and I sat in O.Henry's booth. (A little sign on the table said reserved, but the bartender told me the sign was a lie. They just leave it there for... reasons?) Legend has it, Mr. Henry wrote "The Gift of the Magi" in that booth. I wrote "I love you, O.Henry" on the paper tablecloth. Took a hundred pictures like a tourist (I was a tourist). I could feel the layers of paint on the wood that adorned the walls and benches; the tavern is 165-years old (the oldest in the city!). The place wasn't overcrowded, and the food smelled fantastic. (Characteristically, I opted to drink my dinner instead of actually eating anything, so I couldn't tell you what the potatoes actually tasted like.) Overall, I loved the experience, including the acerbically jovial, somewhat put-upon bartender. Five out of five stars. Would definitely go back!

This place gets so much hype but I can’t figure out why, other than the “history.” We came and sat outdoors for burgers and beers, and everyone agreed it was all mediocre — the burger buns were extremely dry and crunchy and stale, the burger patties were lackluster in flavor, the mac and cheese appetizer lacked any real flavor, and the service was pretty scattered and inconsistent in getting us menus and ordering. The only hit was the fries.

Very interesting and historical bar. Food was good, service was friendly. The bathroom was a little small and not super clean, but I would visit again for the bar alone!

Pretty good place! I had the linguine bolognese and although it wasn’t spectacular, it got the job done. The pasta was cooked well, but the sauce was very light, so the dish wasn’t very flavorful. The fried calamari was also good, but it wasn’t anything special either. I had a side of mashed potatoes, and they were tasty, but I have a feeling they weren’t very fresh. I did happen to really like the ocean themed dish that my meal came in, though! I thought that the dynamic of the place was a little strange; there was a bar space with a few surrounding tables, as well as a dining room. This definitely isn’t unusual in the city, but it felt a bit too cramped for this to be happening. Overall, it was a good dinner, but don’t expect outstanding things from here. Oh, it is the oldest bar in continuous operation in NYC, which I thought was a pretty cool thing.

Very impressed with this place. There’s a mystique to the atmosphere but it’s it totally unpretentious. Had the salmon for entree and and calamari shrimp appetizer. Great portions sizes. Good taste. Celebrated a 30th Birthday. Went to visit because of the writer O. Henry making the place famous. He is said to have written his short story, Gift of the Magi here. Good vibes. Highly recommended for the good service.

Great old time restaurant and bar. Rustic atmosphere and decor make it a nice stop. Food is good. Waiters and staff super friendly. If you like the murray hill section, make this a stop. You wont be dissatisfied. Plenty of seating either at a table or at the bar. Weather permits, they have outdoor seating. Good menu from appetizers to main cource's . Full bar and plenty of different brews to choose from if your into a beer. Put it on your list , it's a part of NYC HISTORY ITS A LANDMARK.

Opened in 1864, Pete’s Tavern is a NYC landmark. Conveniently located in Union Square, Pete’s consistently serves delicious food and drinks in a very cozy setting. During the holiday season, Pete’s goes over the top with decorations and it’s amazing. Enjoy this staple in Manhattan with family and friends and significant others. You’ll leave pleasantly pleased!

The smoked salmon scrambled eggs were superb. The waiter could not have been more efficient, nor more friendly. I recommend this place very highly.

I dropped by for some lunch. Had their Reuben. House made bread and corned beef. Long story short, my mind was blown. I felt things I didn't know I was capable of feeling. This Reuben is revolutionary, must try!
