In a town shere my Grandmothers are fromone named Opal in fact. You are eatting good home cooking right in the city. It is a small town yet beautiful hills and curves. I had meat loaf mashed potatoes and greenbeans. So good to the last I cleaned my plate. Also there was some nice history around.Down the way I looked up reatives in the library. It was neat thinking about food culture and history.Awe now I shall return someday. The cops eat here it is so good. Home town of String Bean who played the Opry...

Passing through McKee, KY and needed to stop for dinner. What a wonderful surprise Opal's was! For around $12 I got an appetizer, a soda, a fried chicken dinner (that included 2 sides and cornbread) and a dessert! I recommend the cornbread salad (evidently it's a local favorite which I had not heard of prior to dinner). The service was prompt and pleasant. The waitress was very helpful in explaining the options and making recommendations. Next time you find yourself driving through, be sure to avoid the fast food chains and buy local at Opals. I promise you'll get your money's worth and you'll love the food and service!

It's a 1 star because I cant go lower. I will never be back here. I waited for 15 minutes for a menu and another 35 for an order of deep fried mushrooms. The gentleman across from me got there and ordered before me and didnt get his food by the time I left. The owners need to step up to this problem or they wont have a store

A call in order that was to take 20 mins for pic up. The daily special and. A burger took close to a hour went twice to pick it up! The first time paid for the order in full second time I go to pick it up I was questioned if I had actually paid for it! The food was good but customer service none. Very delayed in receiving the food if u are just grabbing to go I would suggest against maybe dine in would been better!!!!! Very disappointed... Wish there was a half star to choose from a full star seems a little much!

Stopped in few weeks ago around 2:30. Three of us for late lunch. Two had meatloaf, with mash potatoes and green beans. I had chicken strips with fries and slaw.Meatloaf was burnt so that was disappointing. My strips were good and so was the slaw. Fries seemed frozen. Portions were large. Disappointed for price. Would give another try, just not at the end of the day.

I used to frequent Opal's, but since they no long serve breakfast I haven't been there much. I visited recently for lunch, though, and was pleased overall. My burger was great. The fried potatoes (which is the reason I went) where good overall, but too many were crisp and/or hard and nearly black. The strawberry pie was great. They were packed, so service was slow, but that's to be expected. My waitress was very friendly and apologetic for the slow service. Good experience overall.
