The outside definitely would make you think twice if you're not from around the area. However, I enjoyed the food. Service could use a lil help though as it was slow and, while eating in, the server was more into the show on the television then attending to guests. Nevertheless, she was nice. Thanks for a good meal.

First of all, the place is SO DIRTY! I felt ill/nauseous literally after eating a couple of bites. The Mac n cheese is extremely bland, the collard greens are DRENCHED in what tasted like vinegar and hot sauce, the sweet potatoes had no flavor, the fried chicken tasted like it was fried 4 different times and absolutely no seasoning.

Exactly what I was looking for - the hidden gem with AMAZING food. Nothing fancy and you have to know to go upstairs if you want to dine in. Their mac n cheese is LIFE. Had fried whiting, collard greens, LIFE mac n cheese and cornbread with their homemade lemonade... Could barely walk back to the Metro stop across the street - so full. I will hit this spot every time I'm in DC. Every. Damn. Time.

Visiting from CT. The fried wings & Mac and cheese was super flavorful and delicious. Yams were good as well but I’m not a big fan of yams. I like that they offered an upstairs area if you want to dine in. Friendly staff. Good service!

Located in a historic area? It is a revamped living space. Plenty of food for the price when ordering the lunch special. The shrimp and grits was amazing as well as the greens and crabcake sandwich! I would definitely return and reorder

Lovely hole in the wall type place for soul food. Ambiance was plentiful in this place. Wonderful take-out or dine in. We opted for the dine-in experience upstairs. Strawberry cake for dessert is a must. I had fried chicken breast, which was great.

PHENOMENAL SERVICE! It was my first time eating here. I ordered chicken, macaroni and cheese and sweet potatoes. The customer service was down home, down to earth and friendly. I'm from the south side of D.C. and was just moving back home, it felt good to eat a Southern meal that tastes like lots of love!

The food is always great! The recipes have been consistent since the first time I went in 2004. The late noght service could use some work and be improved, although the environment is hostile. Overall this spot in the best place to get some soul food in the city and have going for about 20 years and counting Check 'em out!

Oohh's & Aahh's is always good. They have some of the best Soulfood in the area. I have never been disappointed with anything that I've had there. The greens are good, a little vinegary, and the mac and cheese is really good. Their fried shrimp are a great choice. They are seasoned really well but a little salty for me. Overall I'd definitely recommend trying this spot. It has become a local favorite and a late night go to for tasty eats.

We were looking for a restaurant to sit in and eat. We came across this and decided to go. At first sight we said no about going because it was no where to sit and scenery was off. But when we went in the food smelled good and it was a line of ppl so we figured it was good. We were informed that it was a seating area and we stayed. The food was so good. We all ordered different things and it was all good I was full immediately so much food left over. Good place

This place has the best fish and mac and cheese in DC. I know that's just my opinion but their mac and cheese is baked and its greasy and slightly buttery. It has a different taste to it than other mac and cheese that I've tasted. The cheese just melts so perfectly even upon reheating. The fish is not too salty and its always made to order. Try to get there before 4pm to save a few bucks.

My coworkers and I sorry to say can not share in the enthusiasm that I’m reading form majority of writers on this site. Our experience was not good. The greens were tuff and too hot and spicy with a taste of vinegar. The gravy on my rice had bits of Rosemary all over the top and it made the rice taste earthy. My chicken was fried at two different times, and the color and taste showed it. The meatloaf was dry and had hard edges. My cake was dry as if it was around too long. Overall, I will never darken their doorstep again. Stay away from U St.

Absolutely loved it. It was one of those places a friend recommended in passing and I put it in the GPS and headed over on the way out of DC. Don't be fooled by the atmosphere. They seat upstairs and it is very quaint and understated in appearance. Its a hole in the wall but I don't mean that as an insult just observationally. Our server was attentive and kept us informed throughout the experience. I ordered the catfish dinner which took a little longer but the fish was tender and flaky, perfectly seasoned and was plenty.the mac and cheese had a great consistency, not runny and had a nice pull. The greens has the right balance of vinegar. My sister got chicken wings and they were sizable, well seasoned breading as well. This place was well worth the trip.
