Omakase Room by Tatsu

Amazingly fresh and high quality omakase! Service was perfect in every way I could imagine. The chef and staff were friendly and accommodating. My new favorite omakase spot at this price point.

Bad experience. The waiter's service attitude is not good, although food material are still very fresh. Not recommended.

I have been dining at high-end sushi restaurants for over 15 years. I have never had omakase experience as bad as this one. The chef worked like a robot. He didn't speak to any of the guests and was throwing the sushi on your plate, without telling you what you are eating. Apparently there is 90 minute dining experience only. At 86 minutes, they started putting a new setting for the next guests and asked us if they can give us our coats. After I complained to one of the staff, they told me that it’s a 90 minute experience only and we need to leave. We spent over $500 in 90 minutes and where basically thrown out. What a joke!

In a little unassuming and quiet spot, tucked away down a dark staircase, is one of the most delicious Omikase spots I’ve ever been to. Each bite was playfully in line with the previous bite, building itself into an experience that I won’t soon forget. Instead of just serving sushi from Japan, Tatsu has assembled seafood from different parts of the World. The care and knowledge that goes into each piece is translated into each bite. I would highly recommend this establishment. It will be a frequent stop whenever I’m in NYC.

I brought my significant other here for her birthday dinner and was extremely underwhelmed. We are expecting the service to be traditional (which it was) and the fish to be extremely fresh (which it wasn’t). The salmon tasted like something I could get at any average sushi restaurant and the oyster was mushy and chewy. If the meal was $50 we would consider coming back, but for the $150+ price tag each it was definitely not worth it. Overall, while the sushi bar looks nice and the service was pleasant, one of the most average Omakase experiences in the city.

No frills omakse experience. Fish was fresh and delicious. For $135 pp for 18 pieces, its a really good deal.

One of the best sushi place in NY.

An amazing omakase experience!!! The food was incredibly fresh. I personally don’t even like uni, but even the uni was delicious! The restaurant has only 10 seats so the experience is very intimate, with one sushi chef, his assistant, a host and waiter. Everyone was super attentive, our seating area was never dirty (paper wrappers were picked up immediately) and our glasses were never empty. Absolutely worth every penny! Will definitely be back!

Literally the best sushi I have ever had in my life, better than nobu. The setting is very cozy and personal with the sushi chef preparing your meal in front of you by the course.

Food was great, the reason I gave 4 stars is because for the price to sushi, I’ve had better omakase. It’s good sushi, and can’t go wrong, but there was no real specialty.

Good sushi. Had a mix up with our reservation but they accommodated us when they really didn’t need to. Would come here again. Very intimate setting only a few seats available. Reasonably priced. Very attentive staff.

Every piece of sushi was delicious. I liked the sushi chef when he was at his previous employer so had a hunch I was going to like this place. Needless to say, it did not disappoint! Would come back again.
