Situated on the heart of Main Street in Vancouver, Old Bird is a Chinese restaurant serving small plates inspired by Chinese and Taiwanese street food and nostalgic home cook meals, contemporary cocktails, craft beer and BC wine. It’s fun, it’s bold, it’s Chinese Food with Attitude.

I highly, highly recommend Old Bird, and I wish I had gone to Old Bird when dining in was still an option. I say that, as based on the quality of take away, dining in must be incredible. We ordered the Smoked Potato Salad, Salt & Pepper Wings, Braised Pork Ragu, and Steam Sable Fish, and I do not know which I liked most. The salad was so fresh and balanced perfectly with the smokiness of the potatoes. The pork ragu was flavourful and melt in your mouth-tender. The sable fish was cooked perfectly and was so different from other fish dishes I've had in the past that I don't even know how to describe it. And the wings -oh man the wings- were arguably the best S&P wings I've had in Vancouver. If you're looking for a place to get some food from tonight and are looking for something that is both unique and somehow deeply familiar, you will not go wrong with Old Bird. I will 100% be ordering from them again, and frequenting this place if and when we're able to.

With so much publicity and fanfare, let's give this one a try. As you may know, they took over the former Nomad location.Whenever I see that steep stairs, I always say to myself, poor server, they better be well paid. The front desk was cheerful and friendly. They explained to you what to do and how long you have to wait, etc.Beautiful big red orange laterns is the main attraction. We tried so many dishes and they're all good. First, the baked oyster, fresh and plump. The daikon filled pastry was so addictive, finished so fast. The Humboldt squid, tender and the chili pepper that came with it was fine.Of course, I must try the Manila clam.Creamy, savoury. The rice with pork raguwas my least favourite. The highlight for me was the steamed black cod in black bean sauce. This is what I been dreamingof. Dream fullfilled. Thanks and good luck.

What an amazing new addition to the Main Street corridor! I have never experienced a restaurant like this in Vancouver before, so exciting!! All the dishes were so tasty and fun to share, I think we almost ordered everything on the menu as we couldn't stop. Some of the best cocktails I've ever had!! The staff was attentive, and worked well as a team. Music was fun and great, will be back!!!
