Nice place to stop to have a break. The sweets (chestnut chou cream) was nice and not too expensive. The menu is not in English but there are pictures.

Suzaku doesn't use sugar and so on, and seems to be sweetness only of chestnut. While eating, I wanted to eat a normal sweet Mont Blanc. I thought that if you eat boiled chestnuts, you can feel the same taste.

Obuse information centre. Very helpful. Low season early March so quite cold. Many eateries so catering very much for tourists. Hokusai museum well worth visit if you have any artistic interest.

Although you might need to wait for the freshly baked chestnut buns, but they were very tasty. The town was famous for chestnut.

A Japanese confectionery store in Obuse, famous for chestnuts. There are many sweets made from chestnut yokan and other chestnuts. Visiting in May was off season but it was delicious. The dough of chestnut dorayaki is moist, the bean paste is light, and the chestnuts are a lot sweet. The store's exterior and interior are well-established and it feels good. It seems that you can usually eat and drink.
