I used to love Oak City Fish and Chips, however I went to Oak City Fish and Chips at Morgan Street Food Hall on July 27, 2019 and purchased fish and scallops. I received 5 bay scallops were not jumbo scallops and, as one reviewer stated in her review, the scallops taste raw and so I could not eat them--I was so turned off I couldn't eat the rest of my meal--so I threw away $20.00. Another thing to note, is the employees taking orders are very unfriendly and appear as if they do not want to be bothered. The service and food quality has definitely gone down hill over the months. I will not return to that location.

Went to Oak City Fish and chips for first time on 06/30/19. It was not a good experience. I purchased fish and scallops. The fish did not taste fresh and the scallops should have cooked longer. It definitely was not worth $21.65. I inquired about the shrimp before purchasing asking if they were deveined. None of the staff knew what I meant. I had to explain what this was. I wish I could give them a zero because it really was not worth the money. I will share my experience with all my family and friends so they will not make the same mistake I did.

Eat at your own risk. I went there today and ordered a small fish basket and waited for 30 minutes in the line. While waiting, I saw the cashier run back in the kitchen to help the kitchen crew cook while customers waited to order the food in the front, I also saw her touch raw fish and immediately touch cooked fries for the waiting customers( cross contamination). When she finally came out to her cashier post, I said I had waited for 30 mins for the food and requested her to refund the money I had paid her, she then just reached onto the counter and gave me the contaminated food. I wasted my time, money and food at Oak City Fish and Chips. Please be wise with your food choices and don’t get sick eating contaminated food.

Great food and great quantity. Seasoned to perfection. This is one of the few times that I could not finish because they gave me so much food. I will be back.

My husband and I visited the New Birch location and I must say, it was a very pleasant experience. Cameron and Dale were very nice and professional. The wait wasn't long at all and the food was great. We will definitely patronize this establishment again.. Thanks again Cameron and Dale..

Just saw on the news where these guys donated like 200 meals for those in need for the Holiday in Raleigh. Well done! I love those F + chps as well, sooooo good!

Went for the first time this evening and it was delicious! The girl out front was nice and Kerry (who cooked our meal) was amazing! Very friendly and the food was awesome!! I got the double basket with shrimp, fish and fries. It was exactly what I hoped for; flavorful and crispy! Good price for the portion (which I thought was generous) as well! Will definitely be going there again.

Best fish and chips I’ve ever had! No condiments needed, the coating and seasoning are already perfect. ðŸ‘

We loved the fried lobster tail! The spice was light enough to be pleasant. The light, crisp cole slaw was a perfect cooling compliment to the gentle heat. The fries were delightful! Was that the faintest hint of brown sugar in the seasoning? WOW!! Loved that!

Food was good. We had the fish/shrimp and fish/scallops basket. Scallops were awesome. Everything is very heavily seasoned. Expensive, but it seems about the right price point at the Food Hall.

Too spicy and too pricey! I ordered the small basket of shrimp. It was $12 without a drink. The good: Staff was friendly. It came out in just a couple minutes and was served hot. The bad: By small, they mean small! There were only 6 shrimp and a small portion of fries. For $12 I expected more. The shrimp were over cooked and tough. They were also so over spiced with cajun that I didn't finished them despite there small portions. The fries were cooked well but also too spicy and I usually like spicy. Big thumbs down from me. I will not be returning.
