Northwood

I've been here several times and after really wanting to love this place, I think I can finally admit to myself that it's mediocre.The house cocktails I've had are simply too sweet and not balanced well (had a similar experience at Mulberry bar which I think is run by the same people). An example of the "meh" I'm talking about: yesterday I ordered the cocktail with Cava in it but the drink I was served was pretty flat. This is either because the drink recipe doesn't call for enough Cava or the Cava itself was flat. It wasn't terrible but not worth the $14.

Some wicked cocktails here. Easily amongst the best in the city if not the best. Had their different summer highballs on the patio--couldn't have been better.

Been coming here for a long time now and it’s always good. They have an extensive drink list and a nice patio (closes at 11). I really like their decor inside and all the staff are very friendly.

Used to come here as a regular in 2015-2016 when Emily was behind the bar. Very disappointed to say that the bar, especially the service, is not the same anymore after coming in here on a quiet Sunday night. My friend and I were ignored for ~8 minutes to be greeted at an empty bar, when the bartender and server both clearly saw us come in and attended to other tables in the meantime. Absolutely horrible and rude service from the bartender - her attitude was so off-putting that we left without ordering a drink. I guess this is why the bar is empty on a Sunday night on a long weekend while neighbouring bars were packed. Definitely will not be returning.

Rude staff, went in with my wife for a drink and although the bar was not packed the waitress didn’t greet us and told us they were at capacity. No apologies nothing.

Adorable casual spot for a Tuesday night almond tea with friends. Bring a chess board.

This place is known for their cocktails but I visit for their excellent craft beer selection. They also have good coffee. The staff are nice and the clientele are a mix of young professionals and students. If you go between 5-7pm, you’ll get $2 off beers!

Their website says that Northwood opens at 1 pm on Wednesday. I arrived with a friend at exactly 2:50. The door was locked so we knocked. The waitress came to the door, opened it and said, "We open ten minutes." She then slammed the door in our faces and locked it. We we were left standing there IN THE RAIN--me with a large parcel. She could have offered us a seat inside. We would have happily waited for ten minutes.So off we trudged through the rain to Pauper's where we were treated very well. Maybe it was meant to be. I hear Northwood is overpriced.

Simple bar on Bloor west with beer cocktails and wine. Good hostesses and a patio.

Great atmosphere. Great drinks. Great for a date.

We enjoyed our evening filled with warm and inviting service, hip music and unique cocktails. The place was busy, but they managed to squeeze us into the bar without hesitation. Drinks were very good and unique. We were a party of 4 and they noticed that we would have benefited from sitting at a table and as soon as a table was available, they managed to move us to a table. Highly recommend this spot.
