Noble Rot

About

Noble Rot opened in May 2002. It has gained local and national attention including the NY Times, the Wine Spectator & Gourmet. The Willamette Week named Noble Rot "Restaurant of the Year" in 2003 & Sunset Magazine named it “2009 Wine Bar of the Year”. The best way to plunge into the Rot is through the wine flights that are offered each day. They also display a large bottle selection and all the wines are available to go. Noble Rot’s highly regarded, locally sourced, seasonal food menu is made up of small plates with intense flavors. Noble Rot is perched atop the fourth floor in an award winning, environmentally sound, Leed-platinum certified building (the greenest!) which includes a fantastic west facing city view. With its outdoor patio seating, it is one of the best places in the city to watch the sunset.

Good portions are not in line with the prices. Food was really nice, but left hungry.

Have been to dinner here several times. The restaurant is on the 4th floor of a small building in NE Portland. Their rooftop garden provides some of their vegetables and herbs in season. Hard to be more local than that! The food is impeccably prepared and presented. The menu changes regularly but they always have a fish offering, a vegetarian choice, their signature burger and a pasta among others. I usually order the fish which is always light, fresh and delicious. My spouse, the carnivore has had their meat offerings and the burger and has always left happy and satisfied. Servers are friendly and helpful. Wine flights and great drinks. One of the few consistently outstanding restaurants in Portland.

Yes, the food is good!

Yes and reservations are recommended!

I actually enjoy the slow pacing. Perfect place to spend a long dinner as you will never get rushed along.

Gift certificates are available at the restaurant for any dollar amount above $20. We open every day at 5pm or give us a call for special arrangements.

A lot of the tables do but it's best to request the windows facing West. Great view!

There is meter parking M-F, 8am-6pm right in front and street parking on side streets.

Hi Jeff, yes to middle aged children. We have burgers, mac and cheese and can do a kids pasta. Fries, onion rings. And my kids love the chicken and pork dish right now. But no phones allowed at the table! HA! ;) -Courtney (manager/owner)

They have dishes that are inherently gluten free. Such as salads, appetizers, and entrees. that feature proteins with vegetable sides, etc. They also serve pasta and a burger but are NOT gluten free - unless the burger is ordered without a bun. I,personally, am gluten free and absolutely love this restaurant. The wait staff is very helpful with navigating the menu for delicious and gluten free options.

The restaurant consists of one room (third floor) and limited outdoor balcony seating. If you're looking for literal privacy, I'm not sure this is the place. Its very romantic at night with views of city lights below but you can see everyone elses tables anywhere in the dining room. They give tours of the rooftop garden but only at certain times or when it isn't too busy. Call restaurant for details.
