Nick's Original Filet House

Who doesn't like Nick's in the sticks? Love the tiny building. Very cozy and everyone is just so knowledgeable and friendly!

Nick's is located well off the beaten path about 8 miles outside Tuscaloosa. Small simple clean dining area decorated with dollar bills on the ceiling. Nick's specializes in steak but also serves sandwiches, shrimp and a few other dishes. The steak dinners comes with a nice salad. Steaks are flavorful and are cooked to your liking. Not your everyday dining experience. Great value and fun atmosphere.

I had the chicken, but my friends had the filet. The filet was better.

Great place!!!! It is very small inside (no more than a dozen or so tables), but the food is absolutely delicious and totally worth the wait. The prices are very low! I ordered a 12 oz. Ribeye steak, salad, and french fries. The steak was amazing, but the fries were pretty sub par. They were really cold and tasted a little freezer burned. Some others in my group also got the large filet, and said it was delicious. It comes wrapped in bacon. I ordered my steak rare, and it was cooked perfectly. The side options are fries, baked potato, or onion rings. The onion rings are huge! The dressing for the salads are brought out in bowl container things with spoons for dipping that the whole table shares. The only dressings they have are ranch-blue cheese mixed, french, and thousand island. There is a great drink that you can get inside or while you wait outside for your table. It is called a Nickademis (spelling is probably wrong lol). Overall, this place is definitely somewhere great to try!

We made our first trip after having read about it on Facebook. The atmosphere was very authentic and we only had to wait 30 minutes or so because our party was small. They serve drinks outside while you wait and the famouse Nicodemus did not disappoint! The owners chatted with us while we waited and were very nice. Our waiter Tim was exceptional! My husband loved the chicken livers. The salad was a little disappointing with just an iceberg mix and no tomatoes or other toppings. We ordered two ribeyes. One had WAY more fat than the other and not a lot of meat. The flavor was good and the onion rings were too. The brown and serve dinner rolls gave a homey touch but it would have been nice to have better bread. We will go back because of the service and atmosphere.

Good food, great service. Only drawback is that it is a small place, but if you don't mind the wait, then it is well worth it!

Excellent cuts of meat, perfectly seasoned, making use of steak sauce an insult to the chef. Signature drinks are too delicious to be approached without caution, so pace yourself with the Nickademus and/or being a DD. Salad dressings are also made in house and are amazing. Spoon and the rest of the serving and kitchen staff run the place like a well-oiled machine. Please allow them to work their craft: they will seat you, provide menus, answer questions, and provide top-notch service. Trust them and your experience will exceed all expectations.

Food was very good. I was surprised at how small the place is. Had to wait about 2 hours for seating so if you want to go on a Bama game weekend, go early and don't be in a hurry. It was worth the wait.

An absolute gem of Tuscaloosa County. Vibes, service, and food of this caliber are hard to find these days. When you visit a place that hasn't lost it's soul it is truly something to be appreciated. I enjoyed one of the absolute best med-rare Prime Rib steaks I've ever had in my life with a side of crinkle cut fries that were cooked with the perfect crispy-soft ratio. Best get there early because as with most "whole in the wall" establishments seating is few and in high demand but most definitely worth the wait. I will be back soon to try the rest of the menu. I am sure I will not be disappointed and neither will you if make the journey.

Recently went here with some friends before a long night of drinking. The large filter and BLT held me over the entire night. The service was great, the staff was friendly, and the food was pretty darn good, especially for the price. Definitely worth the drive to check out.

Great drinks and food! Only problem was my husbands steak was more medium than rare! Other than that there were no complaints at all! The ribeye and nicodemus were worth every penny!
