New York Deli II

They're doing takeout, and it was only $16 for this meal for one (tip not included). Sandwich came with pickle and potato salad, 16oz drink was separate. Reminded me of New York!The food was quick and very good.

The food was great. I was originally interested as one of the people I know gave me a quarter of his sandwich and it was massive. When we walked in on today Monday at 4:40 I was surprised to see the restaurant was empty. After we sat down we were given our drinks and ordered. My sandwich was smaller than I thought it'd be based on the last one I tried but came with some fries as well. My sandwich was good and quite filling I soon realized. The walls were full of posters and such for the Beatles and other movies in New York. Once the clock hit 5pm I noticed a few customers come in and pick up orders and soon a few came in so the back of the restaurant began filling up as well.their menu does have some sandwiches called triple Deckers, soups, chili's,and some grilled items. Overall though sandwich was smaller than I originally thought but was very filling and the interior was nicely decorated as well. They do offer the triple decker which is what I originally thought of.

Heard about this joint from a friend. Harlingen has fantastic restaurants if you like Mexican. Other food types not so much. Really enjoyed my second encounter with the New York Deli. The staff are definitely Texas friendly. Not New York City snobs. Menu is full and offers plenty of options. The bread is first rate! Its kinda small and can get crowded @ lunch. Seems like a local hang and everyone knows each other.. The decor inside is eclectic to say the least and heavily Beatles laden with a extra heavy push of John Lennon. In conclusion, bring cash, they charge 3% on all cards, even debt cards. Guess, we'll,, get back!! Plotted. Scouts screening.

The burger was very tasty, well seasoned, and a generous size. Fries are really good... Crunchy, not oily, not too salty (seemed like they didn't put salt at all, which I don't mind). The chicken salad plate was a mistake as it was very poorly put together. The presentation was impressive, but the huge leaves of kale are hard to work with, and the hamburger style slices of tomato were as well. No dressing was offered. I can guarantee you I will never order any salad from them again. I will mostly like still go back for another burger or sandwich.

this is the first time ordering from ny deli. i need to say...totally underwhelmed. My sandwich which was expensive was small rye bread, a small lump of pastrami..a tiny cup of cole slaw (that was decent). i was very disappointed. our other sandwich was corned beef and exactly the same. will not return. We have friends who love this restaurant but we we not order again.
