Enjoyed the performances by the different aquatic animals(All performances are in Japanese). However, note that this location is definitely not for the elderly. Guests have to walk down a steep slope(It's more dangerous when it's slippery) to get to the Marine Park area. Do also check what events are on before going to Otaru Aquarium to make the trip worthwhile.

For 1000Â¥/adult, the Penguin Walk and Dolphin Shows are a good deal. There is also a public bus that leaves from the bus terminal in front of the JR Otaru Station to the Otaru Aquarium for 220Â¥ per adult. It's the last stop, and there is just a flight of stairs you climb up to go to the ticket booth and entrance. Or if you take a taxi, it's about 1300Â¥.The Penguin Walk is outdoors, and it's very, very windy. Tip: stand where the little Penguin pennant near the top center mound. The penguins are trained to stop and pose there.

An aquarium not far off from Otaru, reachable with local buses till the last stop. Like the varieties of fishes, but I gotta love the penguin marching show where they let you see the penguins up close. They even have seal & dolphin performance shows, which is really great to experience. Definitely recommended to see it.
