New Parthenon Restaurant

I'll never forget the first time I set foot in this place. A group of us had just left another restaurant near Eastern Market without dining, because the service had been absolutely terrible. We pop into New Parthenon hungry, irritated and exhausted. Our waiter, Sonny, quickly appeared with a bright smile on his face ready and thrilled to take our orders. He cheered everyone up almost immediately. This guy is awesome, full of energy, and after having him just twice as our waiter, he started remembering everyone's name in our party.I see and hear a lot of comparisons between New Parthenon and Pegasus food, as if Pegasus is a considerable step-up. I don't share that sentiment, and find most of my preferred dishes here to be just as good. I love avgolemono soup and prefer New Parthenon's to its neighbor across the street. Some of the my favorite entrees that I recommend: Chicken Lemonato (be aware, the chicken style is a bit dry), Octopus in Wine Sauce, and Lamb with Rice Pilaf

For the second straight time going here, it will also be my last. The place was not too busy and were seated right away. It took nearly 20 minutes before we saw our waiter. We had to try 3 times before we got anyone to get us a drink and then we were not able to get a second one before leaving. I ordered an appetizer but the waiter recommended I not get it because the staff was busy. Instead I ordered a salad. It took nearly an hour to get my salad, and once I did the waiter said it took that long because I asked for it without olives (because I’m allergic) and the kitchen staff refused to make the salad without olives so the waiter had to make it himself. And the lamb I got on the salad was frozen so the food wasn’t even edible. If I had known it was that much trouble I wouldn’t have ordered it. The last time I went here the service was even worse. Needless to say, there’s better options than here in Greektown

I was unimpressed. The service was poor. My friends order was incorrect, the portions were good but the atmosphere that we got was a struggling restaurant that might have been good in the past. Not so much now. We had to wait a while for our bill. With all the options in Greektown I would go somewhere else next time. Worth a pass.

Old school service, quality food. Came in with party of 8 on a Friday at 1 pm and had no wait. Gyro and a variety of food - everyone enjoyed their food.Would recommend. 👍

Pretty authentic Greek cuisine & rather good. Reasonably priced with an ample beer and wine selection. Only down side...place needs a thorough cleaning also could be spruced-up.

First time in this place, but it looked promising and because it is right in greektown I thought that the food would be better. Me and my fiancee both ordered different entrees and they were both cold and the flavor was terrible. The server was great and we were able to send it back for a refund without any problem. She also gave us some other options which would be freshly prepared but we didn't have much of an appetite for anything else. If you go, try a gyro, stir fry or something and steer clear of the "house specialties"...

Delicious authentic Greek cuisine

I wish I can do 4&1/2 stars, food is amazing but the service can be wildly hit or miss. I have been here now 4 times and I feel like the food on a late night basis is some of the best in Detroit you might have workers that are used to dealing with drunks or tipsy people who might not make the best customers, but it would still be nice to have people who care. I'm writing this because of the woman who took care of us, she did it with a smile and she had the drunks and the few like us late night eaters and she still treated us like we came in for lunch with suits and ties. For that reason alone I say they deserve the .5 star I was happy at a solid 4 till we were served by her. ... If you or your employer can read this Thank You!

Average food snd service here. On game day... forget it! It will be packed!

It was subpar. Restaurant smelled musty and didn't seem very clean. Food was eh, gyro had a small bread portion which frankly needs to be bigger. Too much lamb given the size of the bread, and it was a do it yourself. Weird floor plan as well. Not much attention from the wait staff
