I stopped in for a quick bite on my way to an appointment and will definitely be back! The hearts of palm empanada was delicious! The filling was creamy but still had a nice crunch from the chunks of hearts of palms and it had a bright lemony finish. The bread the encased it all was buttery, soft and chewy on the inside with a little crisp on the outside. I could eat these all day. Can't wait to try the other flavors!

Mulata Kitchen, being Latina owned and women owned was on my list of top places to try. I was not disappointed! Location is plumb, set ice was warm and personable, and our meal, from soup to latte was fresh and yummy!

The baked pastels (empanadas) are ready to go if you are in a hurry! But if you can wait, their delicious sandwiches are worth the wait. I tried the eggplant sandwich, egg/bacon, meatloaf burger and carne louca. All freshly baked. Number 7 is my favorite.Plus, oh the coffee!!! Really high quality and freshly roasted! They just opened, so be patient while they work to speed up process.Well worth a visit.Owners are the best Brazilian people around!

Very pleasant owners and workers. Stopped to support the new shop by having iced coffee, and wasn’t sure about the Hearts of Palm empanadas that was the only one left at the time. Well as I said that to the worker (owner?), she actually gave it to me to try. Loved it! Was very delicious and will certainly be going back again for both the coffee and the empanadas. Edit: I went back to try the Macchiato and the espresso here is so good!

Coffee, salads, empanadas, and other quick bites at the crossing of Oak Park Ave and Lake Street in downtown Oak Park. Staffs are super helpful and welcoming. Built on Brazilian traditions with respects and embracing people of all walks of lives. Little tiny when crowded but like the vibes and free spirited environment! Definitely way better than any chain coffee stores!

This is such a great spot in Oak Park. Everything and more out of the coffee served here, and the atmosphere is super cool. Baked goods look like they were plucked from paintings at the Art Institute. Outdoor seating on a great corner to watch the locals roll by. Great helpful staff, try something new and enjoy!

We went to Mulatas Kitchen & Coffe in Oak Park expecting to have some authentic delicious Brazilian food.Instead what we got was really good empanadas and just okay sandwiches. We tried a beef empanada first and it was warm, delicious and about 3 inches long. Wish we had eaten a few more of these and only these. The Carne Louca sandwich (with braised beef caramelized onions sweet bell peppers and mozzarella) was okay, but lacked some additional spices in order to make it memorable. The Turkey Meltdown (smoked Turkey, chihuahua cheese, bacon, avocado and chimichurri) was bland with almost no flavor to it at all. I would not go out of my way to come here again, but if I ever do, I will just get a few empanadas.

Tasty empanadas! So glad this location has a new business. Free WiFi and a medium/small amount of tables to spend time at.It's a coffee shop, as well as cafe, that has been beautifully renovated.
