Great corner but awful dinner food.

Eggs over easy , hash browns, sausage links, rye toast - all toasted to perfection, excellent quality - better then Stella's dinner. Entertaining view of the city , sit at the counter near the window do some people watching, buy some lottery tickets. The morning cook has hard exterior but very nice and an expert on the grill.

Everything at breakfast was great! Eggs were perfectly done, the hash browns were GREAT...especially with grilled onions and mushrooms! You have to order them special that way. Even the toast came buttered just enough to still be "toasty" and not soggy like other "snootier" places. I've also had their double cheeseburger a couple of times, once with bacon. It was all good for me! It was juicy and flavorful, not, tough like someone else stated. Last but not lease, these kind people have been doing this for a long time!! Their restaurant before this one, was located on Broadway near the Best Western (the old Lake Hotel), and the place was always packed for their breakfasts!!! Give these guys a try. You won't be sorry! It's just nice and simple breakfast and lunch food done very well!!Much Thanks to the crew at Modern Grill. Keep up the good work!!

I lived about two blocks away from this hole in the wall for over a year before I found out I was living next to arguably the best value diner in Chicago. Steak and eggs that will rival anything in the city for eleven dollars, and their omelettes are all excellent as well. Great diner coffee, great service, and never a wait (because no one seems to realize it exists).

They got my order mixed up. Overpriced. Who doesn't know what a friend egg is???

This is my first time here and the host, Chris was AMAZING!!! She was SUPER NICE and treated me like she knew me for years. I am definitely coming back 🙌🏾

Really gross

You get what you pay for, and that’s true to this Diner. It’s very old school, and the people are the nicest you’ll ever meet! However, in terms of food handling, it’s not the greatest. I sat on the diner countertop and watched the cook munch on fries in the frying basket, while cooking other customers food. He was cooking a turkey patty and then touched the patty with his bare finger after he ate fries. Everything is frozen, which reflects on the quality of the food, but it’s still not bad. Nice little joint, but definitely should be conscious of the safety of the food.

Home town feel

What a pleasant surprise and good value! The menu of a traditional diner, portions are good and the food is tasty. The best part though are the prices!!! Got 3 burgers (pork chop, double cheeseburger, and a regular cheeseburger) for 3-5 dollars each!!
