Metro Diner

We eat breakfast or lunch here often. The food is good, served fast and portions are large. Sitting at the counter is a blast. Watching the great teamwork and coordination of the kitchen staff is amazing. Great for teaching teamwork! We come here a lot with friends and family. Nice diner by the river. Came here to meet up with my father and sister for breakfast while visiting Jacksonville. We came to this quaint restaurant and were greeted with friendly faces and amazing service. The portion of foods were huge, but also delicious! I am very glad I spent time with my family here and had a wonderful start to my day.

Always a good meal here with good service. They are well known for their chicken and waffles. This picture shows how it's adapted for a kids meal (tenders and half a belgian waffle). Their specials can be an unexpected treat too. This other image was their New Orleans Shrimp and Grits - when trying new things turns out to be great.

Was there on a Sunday,and was disappointed with my order. The service was wonderful the server friendly and very helpful. The atmosphere great. Will give another try.

Subpar. Those were the words from my daughter and I had to concur. Purchased pick up order for Mother's Day- shrimp and grits, fish and chips and pot pie. The Shrimp and grits was missing the grit cakes, I discovered a note on the bag for the serving staff which indicated they were supposed to ask me what I wanted as they didn't have any grit cakes (information that should have been shared to me after receipt of my order so I could have made changes). The fish for the fish and chips had no seasoning and the quality of the product was less than satisfactory. The pot pie pastry seemed to be a store bough heat and go. Disappointed, but it appears Metro is better for breakfast or typical brunch options, not those I ordered.

Friendly service fast. There is usually a line on Sunday morning waiting outside, but we walked right in. You choose your own table. The breakfast menu was traditional with hearty portions. The Bissell breakfast was a great value!

Location is Hendricks Ave. We sat outside to enjoy the spring like weather. Waitress was prompt, courteous and pleasant. Checked on us multiple times. Our order was on the tables in less than 10 minutes. It was very nicely presented, warm, nicely seasoned and quite tasty.

Friendly service and good food. Our waitress was very patient with us and recommended some popular dishes on the menu. I ordered some hash browns without realizing they have home fries. After receiving my food, I asked her if there’s anyway I can change my food and she said yes. My main dish was biscuits and gravy. It was such a big portion that I couldn’t finish and I had to take the rest home. On top of everything being amazing, they also provide a military discount. 10/10 super satisfied.

The food was delicious! But next time I visit I’ll just be getting a waffle with the strawberry butter and syrup. I don’t even know how to describe it!

I had the Greek salad. It was perfect! They also have really great sweet tea as well! Our server was very nice.

Always fabulous at Metro Diner. Over abundance of great food and great service. You will not be disappointed with anything you order here and if you are not a big eater you might plan on sharing or plan on taking some home with you. Tip your server well cause they are amazing and always come back with refills and bring you lots of napkins and extra sauces etc! Bravos and high 5's!

Great place! My wife and I came in for some southern style food (being Yankees) and were not disappointed. I had the biscuits and gravy and a side of cheesy grits. My wife had the crab Benedict. Both were very good. The staff was exceptional and very efficient. We were told this was their first location and now have over 80 of them around the US. Good success story - God Bless America!

I went to the original metro dinner in Jax. It is cozy place. I had meat loaf platter. I went to the different metro diner in the different states. These diners have exact same decorations! It is truly amazing!!!

So this was a very happy accident. We are traveling and wanted breakfast so I decided blindly to have my husband and I eat here. I got the cheesy grits special (oh my glob, so good!) And my husband got biscuits and gravy both dishes were perfect! Great service in a diner setting, busy and great food.
