Such a great spot to spend a morning! We didn't notice the food menu on our first visit, but the coffee and baked goods were great! And what we had from the menu on our next visit was terrific, too!

Bad espresso, great view. If aesthetics are everything to you, then you’ll enjoy this place. If you’re looking for great coffee, I suggest Oddly Correct or Second Best.

This is the most epic coffee shop I’ve ever been to. It has three floors and a rooftop bar. Was not sure if this is a Jesus place or not but I dug the ambiguity.

The coffee shop itself is beautiful. We were just passing through on our way from Missouri to Nebraska, and this was well worth the stop! The coffee is delicious. We also sampled the olive and lemon bread which was delightful.

I come to Messenger quite often. The bakery is second to none and the other menu is also perfect . I really enjoy their coffee although I feel it's over-priced. I've had drip, lattes, and cold brew. There's a semi accessible entrance. Restrooms are accessible and gender neutral. The seating is pretty uncomfortable here so I'm surprised by the number of people who work remotely from here. There's more than one level, including a rooftop.

Amazing place. You can see there bakery and coffee roasting and preparing factory. You can sit in between production facility and see all of it. Total they have 3 levels and nice patio on the roof. Coffee is awesome, bakery is awesome and super fresh (especially croissants). I recommend. Usually overcrowded.

The Messenger Coffee Company also houses the Ibis Bakery. Where fresh roasted coffee is processed and ultra fresh pastries are baked. The building has three floors including an outdoor deck with a fireplace, a sitting room with the capability to choose your own music, and multiple open sitting areas. All super chill and cool looking. We, the three of us (two regulars and me an out of towner from Chicago) , had five different pastries because we were having such a difficult time deciding. One was a Gruyere cheese pastry (yum), the two others were just as delicious, but the piece de resistance was the two chocolate croissants (soooooo good). I would highly recommend this place with one word of caution, get there early because shortly after we arrived everything including the on street parking was booking up quickly. Enjoy!

Messenger+Ibis in the Crossroads neighborhood is a true destination and a must-see for anyone visiting downtown Kansas City. The food and coffee are of the highest quality anywhere in the world. I love visiting specialty coffee shops when traveling for work and Messenger is as good or better than any I have patronized in NYC, San Francisco, and elsewhere. I don't go out of my way to seek out boutique bakeries, but I have honestly never had better croissants anywhere in the USA or Europe. The building is gorgeously restored with a modern, open and airy interior. The bakery and flour mill are open to the ground floor with excellent visibility to customers. Coffee roasting equipment is front and center on the second floor. The third floor includes a large rooftop terrace with good seating and great views of Kansas City.I really can't say enough good things about Messenger+Ibis. The coffee, bread and the building are all stellar. You can't go wrong!

Second time, same as the first... DELICIOUS! Ibis Bakery and Messenger Coffee have it going on... great tastes and friendly service in a clean place with character and views. And this review is from an “OK Boomer” dude. Wife and I love the vibe.

Aw this was such a wonderful coffee shop in Kansas City! It is 3 stories, with a rooftop deck (I bet this is amazing in the summer) and natural light flooding every area. The aesthetics of this coffee shop is so beautiful. I got the Honeybear Latte with Oat milk and a banana pudding pastry and both were so tasty. I’d love to live close to this coffee shop and come here with my laptop and work for hours.

Excellent service. Cole who worked the register was fantastic. Inspired me to try a coffee that had grape soda hints in it. And you know what, it wasnt bad. Excellent food and wonderful staff. Not to mention the entire place was very open and friendly. They have three levels all with their own personality. Again just wonderful place to eat.

Seriously my favorite coffee and pastry in all of KC. We love basically everything and never have any complaints. They have also been great during the pandemic which is testing all small businesses.

Absolutely loved this place!! I came here with a friend, we love to visit different coffee shops and bakeries in Missouri and Kansas. Definitely a favorite! It's so open, airy and bright with plenty of sunshine shining through the windows. They have 3 levels. The first Cafe and bakery with some merchandise and seating area. The second floor is more of a study area and has this beautiful giant coffee grinder I think it was. The third was the loft as well as the balcony rooftop with a fire pit and a view of the beautiful skyline city. Food was fresh and delicious! I love the crossiant, so soft and fluffy yet the outside had a nice crisp crunch. I also had apple butter with it and my friend got me a truffle which was delicious!! Will be back!

Questions & Answers

They do change the menu regularly, but there is often a small selection of baked goods or food items that are made without wheat. Always feel free to ask a manager for help walking through menu items when you are needing accommodation for any kind of dietary restrictions. They do prepare everything in a shared space where fresh wheat is milled on site, so it's not recommended that people with severe gluten allergies or Celiac disease eat any of those items. Nothing made on site there is technically gluten free, just wheat free and possibly very safe for those who know their own limits and make an informed decision.

Chris Pauley's response is inaccurate. No deal with any church, across the street or otherwise. This is an independently owned coffee shop where the religious or non-religious affiliations of the staff are professionally private, and people with any beliefs are safe and welcome.

Try going up there to see if they are open & place an order or call first to see if they can make arrangements.

We do currently offer a coconut macaroon with chocolate drizzle!

A cheese slipper is our ciabatta loaf with fontina, white cheddar, and herbed cheese curds mixed in! Ciabatta is actually Italian for "slipper" so we opted for that name instead. They're delicious, stop in and try one at our Friday night events!

There is no smoking on the roof.

Yes all of their coffee is organic

They have milk alternatives consistently, but their menu does change every now and then. The last time I visited, they actually had vegan pancakes! They were outstanding. You'll have to ask if they currently have any vegan items, though, due to the menu changing.

I had to use street parking. Sometimes it means quite a walk
