Great soul food with the perfect serving portions but I gave it four stars because the service sucked. The staff wasn't friendly. The hostess just put the menus on the table and walked away without saying one word to us. The server was nice but poor service.

This is a hidden gem in the uptown area of Charlotte. My husband and I were visiting the Queen City and walking around when we smelled a heavenly smell. We follow it to Mert’s. An outdoor diner had a table of delicious looking food so we decide to grab a bite to eat. The vibe is relaxing and welcoming. The servers were helpful and answered all of our questions. My husband ordered the salmon cakes with home fries, biscuit, and cheese eggs. I had the banana pudding pancakes! Everything was delicious! So glad we were able to support a local business and will gladly come again when we are in town.

Over priced. Staff was very nice. Venue is small. Over a party of 10.... forget about it. Food wasn't what I expected. Some good some bad.

Great service, great food and great music! Our waitress was the best! Attentive, helpful and very friendly! I had their famous salmon patties. Good, a bit dry but still good. Music playing was 60/70’s genre. Of course I loved that! Would go back! Nice variety on menu. Banana pudding!! Yes!!! So good and we were told they have a banana pudding cake. Trying that next visit!!

Price was moderate and food was filling. If you're savvy you can pick healthy choices... (I know that its hard... but it's possible... ) My server was sweet and attentive. Food came out relatively fast....

This place was amazing! The food was flavorful with great portion sizes. I loved everything about it; the ambience, the music, and of course the food. We had a waitress named Amber and she was amazing! So sweet and attentive, She took really good care of us. If you’re going to be in Charlotte you’ll want to check them out, you won’t be disappointed!

Food and service were great here! I found this doing a quick google search of the surrounding area and this had really high reviews! We got fried green tomatoes, beef ribs, fried Whiting and fried catfish. The flavor of everything was amazing and the server was really patient when we weren't ready to order.Outdoor and indoor seating is available!

Mert's ALWAYS rocks! I eat there often while in Charlotte for work. Their salmon cakes and blackened pork chops are FABULOUS! The best part is their CORNBREAD! I'm not a huge cornbread eater but can't pass up Mert's! The wait staff is always so friendly and helpful!

Great food and portion sizes. Great decor. Staff not friendly or attentive. On a Saturday afternoon, long wait for food!! Based tip on service 15% and server complained loud enough as we heard.

Visiting from Philadelphia , googled soul food near me and found this place. I ordered fried fish and chicken . The food was amazing. I will be going again tomorrow for lunch. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Great country cooking, great staff, best pancakes ever!!! Took train to Charlotte, stay Holiday Inn center City...Mert's is right there!!!! Love it!

The food was absolutely AMAZING! Great portion sizes and came out piping HOT, just the way I like my food!! I was pleasantly surprised at the short wait time after ordering. Marcus was a cool server and all the staff seem to enjoy what they do and it made for a nice quaint atmosphere! EVERYTIME I visit Charlotte from now on I'll have at least 1 of my meals here!!

Excited to try after seeing on food network! Unfortunately for our table of 5 the food wasn’t what we expected the waiter was excellent very polite and timely when it came to beverages or needs but the food was not that good cornbread and the salmon cakes were a hit at the table but not one of us touched our dinners which ranged from pork chops macaroni and cheese, collard greens, salmon with creole sauce that is really just canned tomatoes my plate came wet as if they just poured the tomato juice on top of everything so Mac had weird taste due to being drenched, the green beans were good ! Also what was liked was the black eyed peas but I wouldn’t revisit this place unfortunately food network has let us down
