Absolutely wonderful authentic izakaya! I really felt like I was back in Japan. Everything was delicious and fresh. Service was a touch slow, but the place was packed so I really can’t fault them for that. Definitely worth stopping in for a bite or a drink, they have a fantastic selection of sake, showy, and Japanese whiskey.

It would be impossible to get better ramen at this price. Rich and bursting with flavour. Well worth it and the staff is excellent.

My husband and I have been coming here since our dating days, now bringing our two kids. Fantastic ramen in midtown!

Never knew this place existed until a few friends brought me here after the GOT exhibit. Menkui Tei was nicely decorated and still felt very casual. I got my usual curry and found it very good. The portions are large and the price is very reasonable, almost underpriced for the area. The subway is right outside. Great location and quick service!

Went here on my most recent visit to the city with friends from college. We chose it on a total whim as we were looking for affordable Japanese, and this was the only place we could find with a table for 6 available. Needless to say, it was quite a pleasant surprise. The service was friendly, the atmosphere cozy and welcoming, and the Yakisoba was some of the best I’ve ever had at a fraction of most NYC prices. I will definitely be going back if I’m in the area again!

Not accommodating AT ALL to people with allergies and dietary needs. The server also had *wrong* information on allergens for certain items -- we realized after we met the manager! Furthermore, manager said that veggie tempura/tofu in substitution for shrimp tempura/pork would cost extra; we can only remove. How do nonmeat alternatives cost extra?? Especially when those veg options are *clearly* found in the appetizer section -- the kitchen is equipped to swap! It's 2020 in NYC. They should freely provide substitutes for broth type and toppings. Their stinginess and lack of accommodation were disappointing. For sure, this restaurant did not make it to our list of recommended ramen spots.

Service was okay, but the soup of my ramen was way too salty. The ramen noodles were fine, but not so much.Prices were not so expensive. All in all, it was okay, but not outstanding, there are better restaurants to eat ramen.

Very true to form, no frills but good food with a nice portion. Food is filling but not overly expensive like many other restaurants. Very much how I feel in Asian countries. Don't expect too much in the form of being attended to every minute. You'll get your order taken, served, left alone to eat and maybe be asked if you need anything else then receive the bill. I like the no fuss way and if I need a something else, I just say excuse me and ask politely. Try it if you're in the neighborhood.

Another regular spot of ours. Plenty of broth to choose from and always great appetizers. The fried chicken is a must and their fried Gyoza as well. Don’t forget to add a half order of fried rice if you getting the ramen. Reasonable prices and a great lunch option. The place is small so if you plan to grab lunch it’s best to get there after 1:15 otherwise expect a wait.

It reminded me every last bit of home! The Ramen, curry, and gyoza taster spot on and since it’s actually ran by Japanese people, the flavor and atmosphere is authentic!

Love the pork gyoza!Yesterday is the winter solstice festival celebrated by us Chinese people, and we feel vary glad to try such a nice gyoza in this restaurant! The rib is also tasty, but the tangyang chicken just contains too mach flour, which eliminate the taste for the chicken
