Mel's Hot Dogs

Impossible to visit the Tampa area and not make a trip over to Mel’s!!

Good Hot Dogs and fries. Enjoyed the food. While it is delicious, for me Hot Dog Heaven is just a tad better.

I have been going to Mel's since it opened. They have the best hot dog in Tampa and my daughter swears that they have the best burgers in Tampa! You will leave stuffed. No matter what basket You get, it will be full of fries. You haven't eaten a hot dog until you've had Mel's hot dog. Then your hooked and Mel's becomes one of your family favorites

One of the few restaurants in town that my whole family enjoys. I usually hate hotdogs, but for some reason I enjoy them here. They do get busy because this is a Tampa landmark. If you came around 12 o 6 PM, be prepared that there may be a line.

Went here right after a visit to Busch Gardens. Got their Chicago dog and chili cheese fries. Was a bit of a wait because of how busy it was, but the wait was well worth it. For something as simple as a hot dog, Mel's packed in quite a bit of flavor making this a place I'll definitely return back to.

I have been eating here for over 30 years. The food is always top notch. The staff is always friendly and remembers my name. I have never wanted to eat a hotdog unless it came from Mel's. The Polish sausage and the slaw dog are my favorites but there are many things that I enjoy eating here so I always switch it up.

Friendly service and good theme for this family restaurant, however the actual hot dogs are pretty small for the price and the quality did nothing to justify the huge premium. I ordered a meal (which includes fries and a drink) for just shy of $10 and felt like it was basically $8 worth of French fries. The dogs you get at the Home Depot parking lot food truck are every bit as tasty and a quarter of the price. Sorry Mel's. It had been years since I ate here and now I remember why.

I've been here probably 10 times -- dragged by family. Mediocre and overpriced hot dogs. Portillo's Chicago Dog is a million times better and cheaper too.

Hasn't changed in 30 years. Same great food and same awesome service . A welcome treat coming in from brooksville

Never understood the appeal here. I've been living in Tampa all my life and every time I've tried to enjoy Mel's Hot Dogs, I've always left feeling disappointed and ripped off. The hot dogs themselves are not bad but pretty mediocre when compared to the outlandish prices that you have to pay. The wieners themselves are quite small and leave a lot to be desired. I could easily get a much bigger, juicier Chicago-style hot dog, with hot, crispy cheese fries at Portillo's for a fraction of the price for one of Mel's meals. I want to like this place but they seriously need to improve if they want to compete with the competition.

Good hot dogs which they will grill for you if requested. Quick service. Chili cheese fries were really good, I didnt expect to like them as much as I did because they use a cheese sauce instead of real cheese. Take your time and go thru the menu theres lots to choose from

Plenty of dogs to choose from. Staff are quick and efficient. Food was good.
