Matto Espresso

Wonderful chain with affordable coffee and pastries. They have multiple locations, some a little bigger than others generally small just for take away. They always have a large selection of pastries even in such a small space, fun to try different ones. I used to frequent a different location some time ago and loved the coffee. Based on the one coffee experience in this location it’s not the best coffee but in my opinion it’s as good as most $4 coffees i have bought in the city but for half the price.This location has great friendly staff with quick service.

I was surprised that this place was so inexpensive when I first saw it. However, I learned why upon my second visit.My first visit was in the afternoon so it was not busy at all and there were no issues. However, on my second visit I went during the morning rush and it was such a horrible experience. Too many people in such a small cramped space. I'm pretty sure they also lost my order at one point, and it was impossible to get their attention because they kept going onto the next customer. Also they seem to be weirdly inconsistent with their cup sizes they give.The cookies taste amazing though and the latte art was a nice touch. I will only be coming back in the afternoon. I'm hoping they open another location downtown near Financial District or Tribeca.

Great coffee and beautiful barista)

This is probably going to be my go to place to get coffee and a small bite to get my work day started. Everything is $2 so I can save money on coffee. My usual is going to be a large Black Eye with caramel flavor and a toasted Cheese or Potato Bureka. I use the the Ritual app to order ahead and it auto places my order when I’m heading there so my order is ready when I arrive. Pretty cool efficiency feature. I also won’t have to wait on line to order, but if the line is long it moves really fast. It’s a small place so don’t plan to sit down. The seating area is really small and right next to the milk, sugar, etc.

Awesome chai latte and perfectly vegetarian and vegans options

Love the service, the coffee is good and the music is always good and upbeat. The place is small but feels welcoming. Also at two dollars an item you can't go wrong.
