Very much a cultural icon for Little Italy. I like their icee's and the nuts. Be willing to experience the locale as you wait in the line during summer. It is more about one enjoying the location than the icee. Come over when the sun heats up.

This shop has delectable products with a line that has a high wait time. The lemonade tastes fresh and can be bought with different flavors. The staff is nice but having high customer volume caused my server to give me the wrong flavors. After a bit of convincing, my server corrected my order and I left a happy customer!

Been coming here for years and honestly it may be the best Italian ice place in Chicago. The ingredients and recipe has stayed the same over the years and the fact that it's a little shack in little Italy really ads to the ambience. Easy 5/5 recommend.

Located by UIC area, this is a good place to cool off during the summer. prepare for long lines during hot summer days. They have seasonal flavors too. Always try the Mango if they have it.

Open seasonally, city classic. All the Italian ice flavors have a base made of lemon and then they add the respective flavor. Peach only comes at the end of the season and is well worth the wait. Never had the lupini beans, will need to give that a try eventually.

BLOWN AWAY! I am not a fan of shaved ice (I prefer chocolate sweets), but on a hot Chicago day, my wife and I found ourselves at this little stand on a side street. It's literally a wooden stand in the middle of a street and it's perfect! It's only $2 for a cup of the most amazing shaved ice you'll ever have. Each cup includes a bit of lemonade and real pieces of fruit. The watermelon lemonade shaved ice is OUT OF THIS WORLD!

My wife is from the North side of Chicago & have never been to Mario's so today for Date Night after dinner we went there for a Italian Ice & OMG she is in Love! I have to have the cantaloupe & she went with coconut & pineapple & once again Mario's hooked another life long customer! If your visiting Chicago or live there this is the summer sports for a cool treat!

This is must place to be in the summer time in Chicago that is open late, and is always a refreshing to have. They have a variety of flavors (my favorite is watermelon and pineapple/banana). Keep in my they only take cash, so no debit or credit cards accepted.

Questions & Answers

And now they are accepting credit cards!

Yes

Unfortunately, they are closed for the year. I agree with you totally, that they should be open later in the year! IMO, they should close in early October instead. As an alternate place to visit until Sunday 10/6/19, I would suggest going to either location of Miko's Italian Ice (Sacramento south of Fullerton, and the other is Kimball north of Irving Park). And Ava's Italian Ice (Western, south of Armitage and also the Blue Line) is open, till usually sometime in late October.

Yes! We are open everyday, holidays included, 10AM-Midnight from May 1st - September 15th.

For a small fee they will pack it on ice

Yes

Yes and most all workers are 18 and younger
