Mama Carolla's Old Italian Restaurant

5 of us each had a different meal. All 5 of us were extremely happy. Amazingly good. Cramped quarters, but well worth the food. The weight staff were personable and the teamwork to get food on the table and the dirty dishes off seemed like a flawless dance. We never had to look for a place to set out glasses down.

Good service and even better food. I had the Chicken Rigatoni with Rizzo style (they add sliced Italian sausage) and it was excellent. The calamari was top notch and the manicotti got positive reviews from the family. It has a delightfully cozy style with an atmosphere that is a bit noisy but fun.

Fantastic decor, and a warm atmosphere. The menu had great variety, and the service was friendly and knowledgeable. Excited to go back in a warmer season to experience the outdoor seating.

Nice cozy place. Quite good food. House carafe needs an upgrade to Chilean box Cabernet.

Not sure you can get better and more authentic than Mama's. A great venue that is packed every time we have gone there, this is a happening spot that will not disappoint.

Has a very comfy atmosphere. I had the puttanesca. I didn't like it, but I believe it was the dish itself I didn't like - too fishy. The entire experience wasn't bad overall. I'll have to try it again to see if I like another dish.

Mama Carolla's is a fantastic restaurant! It is an old house converted into a restaurant, but still has that home feel. It is very popular, and one should expect a long wait if you don't go when they open. They do have a small lounge to get drinks while you wait. The atmosphere is intimate and romantic- a great place for an engagement and it has happened several times there. Be prepared for a small area as this is a converted house with the standard mid-century narrow hallways. They have an extensive wine list, both imported and domestic. The lasagna is fantastic as is the creme brulee but the creme brulee tends to sell out quickly. The restaurant is decorated beautifully and is equipped with a gorgeous patio (when Indiana weather is right) overlooking the gardens, fountain, and Roman statue. Arguably the best Italian restaurant in the greater Indianapolis area.

The atmosphere is so amazing. Must be a great place for Romantic dates, but also good for friends and family. The food is phenomenal. I had a goat cheese ravioli that had 6 extra large, well stuffed pieces of ravioli in a creamy, tomato sauce ( possibly a vodka marina). The house salad that comes with the meal is small and simple, and I had mine with balsamic vinaigrette. It was a nice, think vinaigrette with just the right amount tang to it. Our waitress was so nice and didn't mind chatting with us for a bit until her tables filled up. My friend had the shrimp scampi and pasta and it looked wonderful. Perfect amount of garlic and butter sauce to pasta ratio. Highly recommend it!!

The only reason for the three star rating is due to the fact that you cannot rate half Stars. Else, I would have rated it 3.5. the food here along with the service was excellent. The reason for the lower rating was due to the fact that I made reservations for 6:30, but did not get seated until 7:15. I understand that it was Valentine's Day, but they clearly overbooked. people walking in without reservations were being told the wait was an hour and a half but yet I waited 45 minutes with a reservation. I will definitely come back and give them another chance, but I think they need to take into consideration how many people they are booking for reservations on special occasion evenings.

The atmosphere of this place is amazing. It is a very cozy/romantic setting. The service was excellent and very personable which made the experience even more enjoyable. The menu features a wide variety of items so everyone should be able to find something they like. The food quality was excellent. The salad and bread were great as well. To top it all off the prices aren't overly expensive. We'll definitely be back!

Intimate, home-feel, delicious humbly served food! I love sitting in the garden! I enjoyed the atmosphere with the crowd! Waiting for our table was a little long but it was worth it plus we could still order some drinks and appetizer! Would definitely come back! :)

The hostess was very rude towards our foodie group and management did not seem to care that we waited 20-25 minutes for a table and we had a reservation! Once we did get seated, the food and service was excellent. Would not recommend going as a group. Antonio was a good server.

Great food, great service, great ambiance. What else can you say?! PS they normally don't take reservations except for special occasions like Valentine's Day and Mother's Day where you MUST have a reservation.

We tried to hit Mama's 3 different nights over "Devour Indy" and the normal long waiting lines were even longer.But 3rd time was kind of a charm. People were waiting up to 2 hrs to get a table! You get what you wait and pay for at Mama's. Outstanding food and why the continual busyness of Mamas. We ate at the bar to cut 30 mins of our wait and the bartender said they don't open til 5PM on Saturdays but had 100 people waiting at 4:15!
