Been here multiple times when I am running low on time. the restaurant is on the prime spot. Food is average here. Busy on weekends. I kinda liked the ghee dosa.

Food was amazing. But they kept forgetting our orders so it was a bit annoying. And we were asked wrap up even though we were not even there for more than 1 hour (we were 10 people with $200+ bill but were waiting for one guy in our group to finish his tea. But the owner was impatient). Therefore 3 stars. Also it was a chaotic/loud restaurant. But no hard feelings lol

If you are looking for authentic Southern Indian food Madras Cafe is definitely something you should try. Located in Sunnyvale California with free parking (sometimes hard to find). Only reason i gave this place a 4 star is because of the wait time, every time i have been here wait time range between 20 minutes to an hour or more. So if you have time and ready to wait for some delicious Southern Indian food you are at the right place. Recommendations (Ghee Plain Dosa or Ghee Masala Dosa, Filter Coffee)!

No comparison for such a tasty food. All the dishes are best. Must visit place if you visiting Bay Area

Mediocre food, nothing exceptional. Water is not served at the table, you have to go help yourself. Pay first, and if you’re an eat in customer, they call your name and after giving you a table start preparing your food. We ordered Rava special dosa, methuwada, and plain Rava dosa. Both Dosas get 4 stars, methuwada (3 stars) was not piping hot but it was brought to our table within a couple minutes of sitting down (but the waiting was 25 min at the door after ordering and paying) Dosa came as they made it. The sambar (1 star) was barely warm. There is no customer service (0 stars) People come to pick up your plates right away though since there is always a line of people waiting to get tables. Too much hype about this place, not well deserved in what we experienced.

Busy spot for decent dosas with quick service. Filter coffee and Onion Rava masala dosa were very good. The dosa wasn't too oily which is a common issue but it could be more crispy. On a separate occasion, I ordered in idly, poori sabzi and they were both great. The chutneys that came with the idli were fresh and delicious

Perfect home made Madrasi food. More than perfect Indian food for a travel-heavy day

The indian food is so authentic I had to watch a YouTube video to learn how to eat it. I'm not that big on indian food but the Mrs fell in love with the food. It's all uniquely shaped, beautiful and spiced up. I highly recommend checking it out if you're food adventurous.

AUTHENTIC SOUTH INDIAN FOOD! This place can accommodate everyone somehow, its just magic haha With how popular this place is, my first visit was just so worth it. Very yummy, subtle tasting food. I wish they had more presence around California. But, if I visit san jose, I will make sure to stop by this place. Service, hospitality is nice, humble people. :)

Simple menu and ambience. But highly authentic and tasty food, consistency in quality and excellent service!! Highly recommend. Wait time is tedious; expect long line like a Thanksgiving sale! :)

If you like South Indian food, this will become your go to place. The food is great, dosas, idlis, uttapam, vada, all great in flavor. Sambhar is excellent. I love eating here- simple yet 5star service. How do they get it right every time is beyond me- as this is a very busy place. They are very well managed. Take out is also very good with ample portions on sambhar and chutney. My kids love eating here. We always conclude with coffee and delicious Kersari. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Onion uthappam and Mysore masala dosa never ceases to amaze! As chutney lover, chutneys given with dosas are a treat to taste buds. Idlis are soft and vadas are crispy with less oil. I would love to come back again to eat more of dosas and idlis!!!

The Masala (potato preparation) part of the dosa is very mushy. Rava dosa itself was very crispy and difficult to eat.

This restaurant makes good quality dosa and poori. We really enjoyed their hand made delicious foods. If you are in Sunnyvale, CA., then give it a try!

My friend recommended Madras Café for authentic South Indian food. It was so delicious! I ordered the tomato dosa and loved it. Others also said the mysore masala dosa was their favorite. The dosa portion sizes were generous and they came with 3 chutneys and sambar. The restaurant was pretty busy when we went on a Wednesday night, but the wait was worth it. Would love to come back.
