M Wells Steakhouse

I almost don't want to tell you about this place... it's SO good it's hard to share! Every bite of steak I've had here is fantastic, the sides have been mostly good (the pommes aligot are worth dreaming about for weeks afterward, but I've also had some mushy, overcooked green beans here), and someone (s) in the dessert department are mad geniuses - I've had stellar pavola but also profiteroles with chocolate sauce and parsely (!?) ice cream. The service is unremarkable but competent, the open kitchen is entertaining, and it seems like a casual place where they take the ingredients seriously. Plus, the prices are pretty reasonable for the level of dining when compared to a Manhattan steakhouse! Go to M. Wells, you will not regret it.

The food is amazing. Decor is nice. Looks like an old car garage transformed into a restaurant. Having your steak cooked with a wood burning flame is simply delicious. Only reason I didn't give five stars is because of our waiter. I'm not sure what was his problem. He took our orders told us he was get bread for the table, 10-15 minutes into our wait time he was giving bread and salads to a table adjacent to us. They had arrived 10 Mins after our order. Excellent food and matching service. The restaurant is pricy, but in this case you will get what you pay for. Consider sitting at the kitchen bar where you can see the masters at work. Watching our Porterhouse get prepared on the open flame was a great addition to the experience. Be aware there is a 20% gratuity added to all checks, not just for large parties. The staff deserves it!
