Lucy Bell's Cafe

Absolutely fantastic. My fiancé and I come up to grab a bite for lunch. The portions were huge and I left very stuffed and happy. I had the house burger and she had a sandwich that was something like groucho’s or something and she was a fan of it too. I finished mine there and she had a little baggie we brought to take her other half for the road. Also there were some cute doggos hanging around so that’s always a plus.

We arrived 6 minutes after closing and they still served a group of 7 of us. Some of the staff were not exactly happy about this but treated us very well. Service was fast. Food was yummy. Only 1 vegetarian sandwich option which is a pimento grilled cheese sandwich for $8 with a side. Lots of sides including some homemade pies and cakes. Specials were $15 which could be split between two along with side. Most other dishes $8 to $13. Mostly outdoor seating. Small inside area. Everyone enjoyed their meal.

My aunt and uncle own a house on Daufuskie and I just love it here. Lucy Bell's is one of our favorite spots for lunch and/or dessert. James is a co-owner and the front person at the restaurant. He is fantastic. He is a joy to be around. The atmosphere is great as well. Island feel with low-country food. The portions are large and the food is yummy. I highly recommend Lucy Bell's.

The best shrimp and grits! This island favorite is a must try. During summer months, expect to wait in line. This is a popular destination for everyone visiting the island. The food is great the atmosphere is awesome. Sitting out under the trees listening to the quiet island doesn't get much better than this! Save some room for a sweet treat at the end of your meal. Only downfall is that they dont serve alcohol

pleasantly surprised! You had to go inside order the food and they would bring it out to your table. But it was the best food I’ve ever had on a paper plate. We had the grilled swordfish sandwich, soft shell crab sandwich, and the fried oyster po boy sandwich and they were all so good. The fries were nice and crispy and the cole slaw was great (and wasn’t drowning in mayo). The remoulade on the side was super tasty too. Fun chill vibe and no mosquitos!

Romantic weekend at Daufuskie included sampling food at Lucy Bell's. The food was AMAZING! James took our order and he was personable and accommodating. The service was quick. We ordered breakfast and then had dessert, the portions were very generous and reasonably priced. You must check it out, best food on the Island.

Great food, prompt service with a smile, and the ambiance can’t be beat for historic low country cuisine. Thank You James and Brad for a memorable anniversary lunch with Shrimp-N-Grits that were unbelievable! Daufuskie Island and Lucy Bell’s are The Best!

A Daufuskie icon and the best place on the island for lunch. Very casual, very 'Daufuskie.' Very small building -- just go in, look at the specials board, read the menu while you wait in the (sometimes long) line to place your order. Get your drink inside (great iced tea!), and go outside to a table. A server will appear shortly, shouting your name. Be ready for some of the best food you will ever have! And try to save room for dessert.

Wow Good food in the middle of NOWHERE! Fried green tomatoes were great. Crab cakes were good and big portions. All outdoor seating under the shade of the oak tree.

Perfect restaurant on a perfect island! We ate there 4 times during our week stay on Daufuskie. Incredible food & service every time!
