A must go! Be prepared for a wait and a nice donut hole given out by a little lady that looks as if she's done it for many, many years! Lou Mitchell's is just like stepping back in time! Sit at the counter and chat with a local for the full experience. You can pass on the hash browns, but enjoy, the special of the day, or biscuits and gravy! DELICIOUS coffee in tiny, 1950's size cups that never go empty. Lou Mitchell's is doing it right! Enjoy, you won't leave hungry!

A true classic diner. Got in on the red eye at O’Hare and made my way to downtown for breakfast. This was the first listing that popped up in my breakfast search and I am so glad I stopped in. They started me with a donut hole at the door and I was sent straight to heaven. I ordered more donuts with my coffee and enjoyed the vibe. I was in here pretty early so I got a table on the quick but I heard people saying that was the fastest they have ever gotten a table, so make sure to plan ahead. I ordered the corned beef hash and it was amazing. The fresh baked bread that came with it, to die for.If you’re a true breakfast connoisseur, I would recommend this place.11/10 would recommend.

Lou Mitchell's is an iconic Chicago restaurant known for their breakfast and lunch offerings. Living in the greater Chicagoland area for sometime now, I had often heard of Lou Mitchell's mentioned in the news. Having worked downtown for much of the past 6 years, I thought I would get there at sometime. When my office moved to directly across the street, I finally had my chance. Receiving a hot donut (or Milk Duds) upon entering was a nice welcoming. The wait at 11AM was about 15 minutes. The breakfast food was good. Note that "one egg" is actually two eggs and "two eggs" is actually four eggs. The coffee was decent, although not the "World's Best" as they advertised. The service was very good. Our server was friendly and had a bit of Chicago attitude. The soft serve ice cream at the end of the meal was another surprise. Lou Mitchell's is definitely worth a visit.

Classic Chicago breakfast joint. So much history wrapped in this restaurant and the breakfast is pretty darn good! There is typically a line to get in on the weekends but it moves quickly. The hostess is 91 and has been working there for 50 years...she will offer you a donut hole while you wait in line. The omelettes and pancakes are great. The donuts are unbelievably good. Good news is they now accept credit cards.

Amazing spot to start our Journey through Route 66! The welcome was fantastic with a donut hole and the service was beyond excellent. Food was amazing and your plate would be full and tasty. I had the pancakes and my husband the French toast with reduced berries and it was extremely good. I would recommend this restaurant, breakfast or just to enjoy deliciousness

We stopped here for brunch and the service was immediately amazing and quick!! We were welcomed with donut holes and milk duds complimentary before being seated which completely elevated the experience. Once seated we were brought drinks quickly, met our server, Sheri. Sheri was the best!! She took our orders and met every request quickly and with a smile. I truly love this place and will be back in a heartbeat the next time in Chicago! We are visiting from Cleveland, Ohio and you have showed us true hospitality, Thank you!!!

Visiting here is rapidly becoming a tradition for me when I visit Chicago. A true slice of history, with fantastic little touches, great coffee and pancakes, and a solid staff who are always on top of things (and know their regulars - a good sign indeed). Well worth it.

I love this place. I always make a stop to eat breakfast here before catch an Amtrak out of Chicago Union. A true old fashioned mom and pop restaurant. Always greeted at the door with a smile if your lucky your gonna get a complimentary donut while. The food is awesome and the portions are big so make sure you go hungry.

I adore Lou Mitchell's! The most delicious old school diner breakfast I've ever had! Super close to the Chicago Union Station... One block of walking. I'm always seated within 5 minutes when I stop in around 10am. Great service too.

One of the best! They make their own coffee - so delicious, which you can buy in a bag for home and donut holes to try while you wait for seat!

Everything was great, but it would have been nice if the lady I came with received milk duds and if either of us had received the complimentary donut holes. For those reasons I couldn't give this wonderful establishment 5 stars.

The ultimate Chicago breakfast place, around since 1923. Stii crowded with all type from fresh of the bus or train to business and local government. Everything is what you expect to be from the pancakes to the hash. The people next to me had biscuits and gravy and a turkey club. Both looked good. The give you free donut holes, pieces of fruit, milks and ice cream The portions are big enough for two meals

Great breakfast! The food was excellent! The service wasn't good. We had to search for our waitress, and ask for refills on drinks, to take our order, and many other things that should have been asked by the waitress. It wasn't even busy at the time. Our waitresses name was Shari.

Wonderful food! Great homemade ice cream. Highly recommend the chicken sausage omelette with gravy. The cottage cheese omelette is pretty great too!
