La Locanda del Ghiottone

This is the BEST whole in the wall meal I've ever had in Philadelphia. The owners welcomed us warmly, we were able to meet some of the guests sitting nearby, and the food was AMAZING. BYOB and call to make a reservation. I will definitely be back! Such a fun night.

Friendly service, cozy atmosphere, OK food. Called ahead on a Friday night and were able to get a table pretty easily, but it could've been a slow weekend. Either way, staff was very friendly and on top of things. Inside atmosphere is nice and being able to see inside the kitchen is cool. The caprese salad we got was delicious and fresh. However, our main dishes were just OK. The pork dish we ate was too salty, especially the risotto. The seafood pasta didn't have a lot of flavor and the seafood didn't taste very fresh. The food wasn't bad, we were just hoping for better.

Great food and in a beautiful building. Cash only but can't break a $100. Buy a card reader, it's 2019 in the 6th most populous city in the US. Nobody is *that* much of a hipster.
