The best meal we've had in Madison in years. Great food (bœuf bourguignon was phenomenal) and nice wines in a homey atmosphere. Our waiter, Ethan, was the best. The desserts were amazing. We will definitely return.

Looking for a simple, cozy dinner spot, practice or show off your French... this is the place. Brunch as well as dinner is delightful, tho I prefer brunches here due to variety of crepes both savory and sweet. Dinner menu is limited but really well thought out and takes the effort out of ordering - you get to focus on the company and having a good time. The atmosphere is lovely, nicely designed and comfortable. This place is best for smaller groups, romantic dinners, or if you want to pop in for a quick bite for yourself. If you plan to make reservation through OpenTable or some other booking service - beware they do not read the instructions. We requested something in the instructions and they did not read it nor address it. So if its a critical very important note, better call them!

Very cute little place with beautiful breakfast/brunch staples. JBC coffee and Rishi tea round out a great menu.

I might regret doing this because the place is so small... but this place was _really good_ from start to finish (breakfast): service, coffee, hot chocolate, french toast, crepes, _all of it_Only one thing was a disappointment: there are no beignets. That is NOT keeping me from returning. This is French done right. Done deliciously. If you have not been yet, you should.

We were lucky to find a table during their busy brunch period on a Saturday. Even so, the volume in the restaurant was pleasant and we could carry on a conversation. We loved the French influences in the food, down to the stewed apple slivers on the brioche French toast. We will be back.

Excellent service, amazing coffee and the food was just perfect. Our server, Ethan, is one of the best servers I ever had. Friendly, helpful and funny. He even found time to recommend dog friendly places around Madison.

Went here with three colleagues for a business dinner while visiting Madison and was very pleased. It wasn't very busy on a cold, Tuesday might but the wine was flowing and the food was tasty. We also got some crepes for dessert which were really good. We came here because it was fat Tuesday and what better way to celebrate than at a French restaurant! Would definitely recommend for a small party for a casual dinner.

Fantastically delicious and approachable french cuisine. And the ambiance makes you feel like you're in a true Parisian restaurant. I wish I could give this place 6 stars because the food was that good. Highly recommend the special meatball dish from Belgium if its still available! Bravo!

Tl;dr: this is now one of my favorite Madison restaurants. Wonderful service from amazing staff. The selection is limited, but they do what they have very very well.Authentic French style menu legitimized by the owners being from France. They are kind and will make recommendations and accommodations to your order. The decor is fun and inviting. The high ceiling opens up an otherwise small dining area. It felt clean and welcoming. Please try this place out. It is worth your time and money.

I randomly found it on Google and SO happy that I did. It is a small space, less than 10 tables. Most of them had reservations so I was happy we were able to get a table when we went around 6.15 on a Friday night. We had an appetizer of what was similar to avocado toast (I don't remember the name) but it was absolutely delicious! I had a chicken leg braised in apple cider, the potatoes were delicious and it came with a salad as well. My partner had the beef stew which also came with a salad. We were both very impressed with the food and the service was also wonderful! Definitely can't wait to go back!

Going to La Kitchenette is like entering the home of somebody you are very close with. The space is small, the staff is minimal yet exceptional, and the food tastes like it was made with love. Definitely get dessert; it is all made with care, balanced beautifully, and all of the portions allow you to enjoy an appetizer, entree, and dessert.

What a delight. I am disappointed in myself for taking so long to try La Kitchenette. My partner and I went the other day and as soon as we left the restaurant, we said, "We'll have to come back." Excellent wines, great service, cozy decor, excellent flatware design (seriously, the forks are beautiful), and such yummy crepes - you really can't go wrong.

A spectacular of the University and downtown Madison. And a spectacular sunset vista the opposite way. Truly a great walk but bikes are no longer allowed.I love it here, very scenic. Sometimes a little flooded so prepare to get dirty. Reserve the fire pits and have fun with friends.
