La Guinguette

Save room for dessert. Dinner was very good, and dessert was a wonderful treat. We will definitely try again. Not a fast meal, but very good. Great place for a quiet romantic date. Food is a mix of French and Latin favorites.

Food was excellent. We went there for early dinner while vacation. The place wasn't too crowded yet. Server dropped half of the baguette slices for the appetizer when she was bringing it to the table, laughed and made a joke, but never replaced the bread nor picked up what she had dropped. We had to wait over an hour and 45 minutes for our food after the appetizer with no explanation, no apologies. We were tired and wanted to leave after an hour or so but couldn't find the waitress to pay for the appetizer...it was crazy! But Ioved the food. Good thing we weren't pressed with time.

An intinate European restaurant. Entree crepes and dessert crepes were delicious. The hostess/server was personable, and engaging.

So...after my second trip, this is not only one of my favorite restaurants in Black Mountain/Asheville, it is one of my favorite restaurants anywhere! We had Carne de Vaca Empanadas, Espinaca Empanadas, La Super Complet Crepe, & La Crepe du Verger. Everything was really good. But the Empanadas will likely cause me to make a periodic 3 hour drive from now on for no other reason at all! Service was exceptionally pleasant and had the opportunity to meet Cecilia the chef and owner. The restaurant does not have a full week schedule so be aware if you are planning a visit. This has prohibited me from eating there several times since I was nearby on a day when they were closed. However, Cecelia informed us of her other restaurant 30 mins away in Asheville which has different hours AND WHICH OFFERS BULK FROZEN EMPANADAS TO TAKE HOME AND BAKE LATER!!! Thank you Jesus! And thank you Cecelia, too :-)

While staying in Black Mountain I discovered that some of the best eating establishments were breakfast places. La Guingette is a great one! The food was fresh and organic and properly prepared. We found a pleasant table outside and had a lazy, lovely breakfast. I'll eat there again when I move there later this year.

I LOVE La Gunguette. Wonderful food and atmosphere. Their french onion soup is the best, and they make wonderful crepes both savory and sweet and the empanadas are great too. It's mine and my husband's go-to date night restaurant.

Me and my sister went here and we loved it! We only had some dessert because we weren't really hungry but the whole vibe of this place is amazing. I'll definitely be back to try more!

Long time fan of this restaurant! Never disappointed with anything on their menu. There's always something else to try and a great wine no matter the budget!
