KOBE BEEF Niyama TEPPANYAKI (since 1955)

Kobe beef steak restaurant on Sanjo Street.Although it is written as teppanyaki, it cannot be seen in front of you because it is baked in the kitchen.To be honest, the freshness of the meat is quite bad. The color was also bad, and the meat that turned fat was oxidized and smelled.Most of them are inbound customers. Even if you don't know about Japanese beef, you can't recommend it to domestic customers.

Niyama was recommended to us and we had an absolutely delicious meal. Probably the softest, tastiest, meltiest beef I've ever had, certainly the best we had in our 2 weeks in Japan. The owner was a gracious and attentive host. Definitely coming back next time we're in Kyoto. It's a small place so book to avoid disappointment!

The service was second to none at this restaurant. The beef was delicious though there was a small vein of gristle in part. The sake was devine. Very cosy and comfortable. Not too expensive so would definitely recommend 😁

We ordered Kobe Beef Golden Set which is absolutely fantastic. I cannot use a word to describe how great is it. Expensive but worth the price!

Unfortunately it’s not a good quality restaurant.The staff is very friendly and accommodating. However the food is definitely overpriced and not what it claims to be.We ordered the golden set, which was supposed to be 500g of Kobe and Wagyu beef, we got what I assume is 250g (it wasn’t nearly enough for 2). Kobe beef did not taste like genuine Kobe beef (but I’m no expert there, I’ll let other people decide). I do know truffles, and we were served truffle rice with something other than truffles. They were tasteless and stale, something I did not know was possible.

Absolutely wonderful food, atmosphere, and service. If I could give this place more stars I most definitely would. We purchased the Kobe Beef Golden Set (for two) and were not disappointed. The meat was like meat butter! I highly recommend multiple times over. If you get a chance, also try the sake and calpico mixed beverage. I quite enjoyed both.

The service was good, the steak was good. Honestly, I can't think of anything bad from this place!
