Kinatei

Being ok rated I was expecting something rather different, perhaps we went there on the wrong day, perhaps we were unfortunate with the time but my overall experience wasn't that good. Starting with a somewhat odd international hostel experience where you mark your nationality in a map, moving to the owner of the restaurant telling us that she didn't had staff so we should order something else (easier to cook and more expensive) and to add up during the meal she decided to have a phone call right I front of us. To the owner: we have organic in europe, is no big deal. We have the hostel experience in all hostels we stay. When we go to a vegetarian restaurant in Nara we're looking for something a little bit more genuine. But hey, it's only my opinion. It's worth what it's worth. The food was ok. Wouldn't come back.

Overall the food taste normal, lady boss service and attitude not polite, we feel forceful to eat at shop as many restrictions. Price abit expensive with small portion. Even we need to serve ourselves the food from the bar counter.

It was a fantastic experience at Kinatei. Yoshiko is very friendly and spoke to us in English, describing all of the delicious food. The food is very good value, 1200 yen for a tasty lunch set that was all vegetarian. She even took us to Nara park after the meal. If you are a vegetarian or Vegan who is visiting Nara, I would highly recommend that you take the time to enjoy a meal here!

Service and food very bad- when we sat down, the owner asked us to write a review in the geust book ( before we saw the menu ). We order two soups, in my ramen there was spagetty noodles instead odon. No egg and spring onion. It taste like miso noodles. The soup included side dishes that was not serve until we asked for them. The "side dish" was few pieces of vegetabels. I heard the word "organic" at least 10 times- kind of a trend that vegan tourist want to hear and pay for that a lot of money. The bills was 3200 - the lady add two desserts we didnt ate at all. Only after We told the owner that we didnt order any dessert she gave us new bill-2600 yen for two 'fake' ramen.

Friends who come to Nara, we must support a lot, good organic vegetarian restaurant with good conscience. Female boss can speak Chinese 唷 👍

DO NOT RECOMMEND. We just had lunch here and the owner was INCREDIBLY rude to us and had a passive aggressive attitude for no reason just because we asked for some soy sauce for the plain rice. She proceeded to LECTURE us in Japanese about how Japanese people don’t use soy sauce on rice etc etc. until her waitress must have overheard and felt so bad she brought us the sauce. We weren’t offered the dessert that was supposed to come with our lunch set and upon leaving we naturally did not fill out her guestbook as our experience was terrible, and she made a comment in Japanese about how “oh I guess you don’t care about it then.”This woman 100% ruined what could have been a nice lunch experience and not only assumed we couldn’t understand her but talked down to us like we were children. Not the way to run a business.
