A must see tourist attraction for anyone in the area. Dontonbori is particularly enjoyable in the evening/at night, where the buildings are lit up bright, the energy in the street is lively, and there’s restaurants and bars as far as the eye can see. However - as it is a tourist attraction, it has been horrendously crowded every time I have visited. Avoid weekends where possible - if you want to be able to move that is!

Cool neon lights, but not my cup of tea. Too much people. Quiet overwhelming

This is the nexus of Osaka where all the shops, restaurant, and lights converge along the water. There is definitely a lot to do and for that reason it is the most crowded location. I would suggest taking a river cruise to fully appreciate the history and the view. Take a photo of the Glico running man and maybe assume the pose yourself. Just be careful not to bump into the throngs of domestic and international tourists attempting the pose. It’s a great location to wind down a night or for a night out, just be careful of tourist traps.
