Kamaei was founded in 1905 (1905) with stores in Otaru, Sapporo, and New Chitose Airport, but the most complete product lineup is the factory direct store near Sakaimachi Street. You can also visit the factory for free, and you can also eat bread rolls at the attached Kamaei CafeParking is free for up to 1 hour, after that there will be a charge of 200 yen for 30 minutesWe also recommend kamaboko (pandome, wiener roll) limited to stores directly managed by the factory, and fried kama variety that can only be purchased here (hiraten, kinpira, miso nanban, pumpkin, cheese chikuwa, 6 types of kamaboko of this month)By the way, the 7 recommended kamaeko kamaboko I recommend・ Hiraten・ Bread roll・ Miso Nanban・ Fried cream cheese・ Tofu Kenchin・ Ikaage・ Otaru Komachi

Great place close to Otaru canal for rest stop. They have free hot and cold tea/water, clean restroom and free Fish Cake samples which is their specialty.

During my trip to Hokkaido, when asked about "What is Otaru's B-grade gourmet?", I heard many people say "Kamaei bread roll!" And of course I came to buy it.I didn't know anything about this until I came to Hokkaido, but kamaboko was sprinkled in bread and fried like a Japanese-style American dog? I thought, it was a mysterious food like something between moist dough and fried food. And since it was of such a size, I ate it as a snack instead, but it was quite hungry.

Always full of people. The eat-in space is large, and I am happy to be able to eat the kamaboko bought at the cafe with free water and tea. In addition, there was menu only for cafe and ate potato bite, but was really delicious. Kamaboko sold directly from the factory has some taste tasting, but it disappears in an instant because people crowd at the moment the tasting comes out (laughs) Sent by I was told that freezing would not be recommended as it would reduce freshness, but it was still delicious.

Came here for the amazing fish cakes. Sounds simple but there were so many flavours. Locals line up non stop for these fried goodies and the staff serve them up so fast I got to the front of the queue before I'd even made up my mind what to order!

This is one location that tourists might only stumble upon. If you love fish cakes, this is the place to visit. Freshly made, they also have have a takeout location where you can eat on the spot (there is a cafeteria-style seating) so you can eat them fresh. There is also a souvenir shop selling tacky trinkets unrelated to the fish cakes. A must visit when in Otaru.
