Kaiseki Ryori Kishiyoshi

Lunch is like a normal home-cooked meal.

This wasn’t a just a meal, it was a true culinary experience, in the traditional Japanese way. The restaurant is family owned and run by a couple who present so dignified, but at the same time are so warm and down to earth. We learned that they have been at this location for almost two decades, preferring to stay small, authentic and local. We also leaned that Chief is not so local; despite his desire to keep things simple and humble. He in fact was often flown to the Japanese embassy in Cuba to serve as Head chef when Fidel Castro would visit. This is because he learned under a top Master and is now a Master in his own right. This is a Chief and a meal at the celebrity Chief level, but he prefers to keep it small and true. This restaurant is a no-brainer. Truly one of our most memorable experiences in Japan thus far. It is an orthodox Japanese restaurant. It's delicious, and the bowls and messengers are wonderful.
