Johnny's Harborside

When I first entered the restaurant, I wasn't sure if it was more of a bar than a restaurant, since the bar is very large. We didn't have reservations, but the hostess was super amazing and landed two of us at a window table where we could watch the boats on the water. We ordered the Calamari and Fish Tacos and they were excellent! I also had the Double Trouble drink as suggested by our great waiter and it was super tasty. I recommend this place. Just don't drink too much because it's a long flight down the stairs.

This Place is awesome! you really cant beat the view. I brought my employees for a Christmas luncheon and the service was wonderful. Their menu had many options In which I chose the fish tacos and they were delicious! When you decide a dessert pick the Creme Brulee Yum!!

The service gives you just enough attention . They could use a little bit more flavor, when it comes to the food. Attractive atmosphere as well as nice and quite with great views. Also as being so close to the beach for a nice walk along the harbor you might even catch some music playing at Crow's nest beach on a lovely Thursday summer evening.

Spectacular seafood and presentation! Could improve serving drinks ordered before meal that were not delivered to some in our party until after their meals.

Consistently good fish and service.You wouldn't think it would be hard to find good seafood, prepared consistently in a place that's always been a fishing community but it sure has been for us. Johnnie's has been a great place for over 10 years. Great view of the lower Yacht Harbor, friendly professional staff. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. My go-to is the fish and chips. Great fresh cod, not overly battered, and NOT greasy!Good full bar, and open for lunch. Great choice if you're doing something else in the area (day at the beach, cruise on Chardonnay, just walking around the harbor)Can be noisy, so not the place I'd choose for a quiet intimate dinner. Reservations a good idea on weekends, otherwise prepare to wait if you're going there for dinner.

Loved it! Great place to walk around and enjoy the view. Restaurant is facing the Harbor and is up stairs. The view is amazing! Highly recommend

Food seems like it can be slightly altered since in the original dish in the picture was vegetables, mashed potatoes, and crab encrusted salmon, and the vegetables were able to be substituted with more mashed potatoes. Servers are nice and the fish tacos are really good and well as the cioppino being one of the best found in CA. However it can get noisy very easily and there was a dog at one of the tables, so it can be assumed that pets might be allowed, but can't say for sure. The place is up 2 flights of stairs but there is an elevator.

If you’re looking for some great seafood or a nicer dinner, this place is for you. Also pretty accommodating to vegetarians. We got the fish tacos (subbed fish for plantains) and one of the plates with blackened tofu instead of fish. Both were really good. Super helpful wait staff.

I have been visiting the Santa Cruz area for 20 years. My family and I have typically eaten at the wharf. Today we decided to give Johnny's a try at the harbor. I will never go back to the wharf. The food was excellent. The clam chowder was very flavorful. The calamari was the best I have had anywhere. The grilled Ono fish served with the Golden Gate option was amazing. I would highly recommend Johnny's to anyone looking for an excellent meal. The harbor was beautifully decorated with lights on the boat masts.

I generally just walk through the area, but often see children playing without too much concern for safety from their parents. There are transients around, but they are told to stay away from play areas.

A very delicious restaurant in Santa Cruz.Shrimp scampi, king salmon w cherry blossom, burger are very yummy!!!
