Great restaurant for a date!! Staff was friendly and the service was quick, although they weren’t very generous with the water. The fries were bland and lacked a little flavor, but the burger certainly made up for it. Overall, it was good. Try to avoid going here on weekends as it can get too crowded.

The staff was nice and engaging. The food tasted great and the shakes are amazing (the best salted caramel shake I've ever tasted in my life).I highly recommend this place. If you're in the area, it's in your best interest to fal

Late night burgers and fries served properly with onions and pickles and Heinz 57. Is it the best burger in the world? No. But it’s pretty solid and the atmosphere and bar tenders are a hoot. Cash only. Open late which is a plus.

Though I'm not a fan of the cottage fries (fried crinkle-cut mini discs of potato), the burgers are great and reasonably priced for the neighborhood and the length of time they've been around and known. It's no frills, but really solid.

The burger here was delicious! Super meaty and flavorful. The only toppings that come by default are pickles and onions but honestly, that's all you need! I would definitely recommend getting the fries to accompany your burger. Furthermore, the host and waitress were super charismatic and welcoming. Finally, just like many other reviews take note of, this place is cash only.

If you're not familiar with JG Melon, you should be. If you're a burger aficionado or just enjoy a good burger, then JG Melon needs to be on your list of places to experience. It's going to be crowded when you go and the seating is close quarters, but it's all part of the experience. The service has always been very good each time I've been there and if you need to wait for the table it's not too hard to get a spot at the bar while you wait. The tables turn over pretty quickly so don't get dissuaded when you walk in and see it crowded. It's absolutely worth a brief wait to experience their burgers. They have other things on the menu, but I'll be honest I'm not sure what that would be because you don't hear much about anything other than their burgers. Just make sure that you order their twist on french fries - the burgers don't come with them.

Great place to go if you want a quality burger. We just needed a place to eat after visiting the Met, and I'm really happy we stumbled upon this place. Burger was amazing, and the cottage fries were different and delicious. The ambiance is very unique. Great dining experience. Will definitely be back next time I visit NYC.

Easily the best burger in the city. It's an upper east side institution, and it's an absolute must have when in Manhattan. Simple, unpretentious food, with a friendly staff and a cozy atmosphere. The cottage fries are insanely delicious, and pair well with the chili. Highly recommend!

I was told it was good. Yes, But I never expected to be so good that I crave to go back daily! Food was amazing, cooked to perfection, delicious, fresh. We sat at the bar, the waiter Bobby was the nicest bar attender ever, funny and made sure to make you feel welcome! Will go back real soon!!!

Definitely one of the best comfort food offered in Manhattan. With beautiful and trendy customers. The place has high energy and strong vibration. A must-go restaurant. The cheeseburgers are all the best and tasty. The climax is the chili, served in two sizes. Oh my... what a chili.

Just how I remembered it when I was younger (30+ years ago). The bartender was awesome, friendly and had jokes galore. The burger was succulent, and the fries were nice and hot. You must add a side of the in house blue cheese, it's creamy with chunks of flavorful cheese. No reservations ahead of arrival, you add your name to the list with the hostess or wait for a seat at the bar. It's a tight place and probably not ideal for groups of more than 4 people. Better than shake shack and even give guys.

Best burger in nyc... debatable... but being debatable means it’s plausible!!! Worth a visit! Bring cash and order your burger medium rare! Save room for some fries! (The chili was okay)
