Went for lunch Saturday. It was so cold I had to give my jacket to my wife. Asked if they would turn up the heat and they actually said no...the manager wouldnt let them. We got the brunch burger...ordered it medium but it came out raw and burnt at the same time. I order rare or medium rare but this was raw...cold...raw but the outside was burnt which tells me it was a frozen patty on a grill that was too hot. I dont mind that it was frozen, just that they dont knkw how to cook it. And the coffee was an assult to coffee.

Bar area offers HH 5-7pm everyday of the week with some great $7 cocktails. Pre-theater menu (before 7pm) is a great deal with 3 courses for $44. Food, service, and ambiance were all very good! Great spot for a nice meal with friends or date night.

Lapin and I came here to have breakfast for his birthday. We were seated rather quickly and was in the prime seating area in front of the windows for people watching. The area was nicely decorated, the Frette napkins and small jars of preserves/jams made the place feel fancy. We both ordered the Altantic as we were starving and Lapin got coffee. The coffee was the same coffee they have for free (for guests staying in the hotel) in the lobby before 10am. The food came out fast and was hot. Although, we were told by the server that everything is prepared ahead and it is just served upon ordering. This was incredibly off-putting given the price. How can it say two farm fresh eggs any style but I could only get scrambled and not eggs benedict like I wanted...? The service was meh at most. After bringing us our food and coffee no one came to check in and the plates were left there when we got the bill. We paid the bill and left and the plates were still on the table.

They offer a nice variety of fresh food. I enjoy eating here. The employees are always welcoming, prices are reasonable and the place is always clean.

We had dinner at Jardenea for Christmas Eve this year and it was a fantastic experience. Even if the food had been substandard (it wasn't) the experience would have rated 5 stars anyway because the service was way above par. I think for our group of 7, we nearly had a server for each of us! The food was excellent and the wine that was suggested to pair with my meal was spot on. We had a great time and if we come back to DC again, we will be sure to visit again. Highly recommended!

I wish I could give Jardenea 4.5 stars, but I can't. The only negatives I can think of are the location (inside the Melrose hotel) and the prices. I went to Restaurant week dinner and everything we tasted was delicious. I had the kale salad which I couldn't stop eating. The marcona almonds, the parm, the bacon, and the gorgeous kale leaves had the perfect crunch and texture. I could go on and on, but I wouldn't get to the other dishes we had. My mom had the beet salad, which she raved about. I had the salmon while she had the sea bass. Both dishes were amazing. While I normally think of salmon as a light dish, the leek soup accompaniment made this rich and delicious. If you come back during the summer, I would definitely encourage you to try the tomato salad as it looks amazing. Jardenea also has a pre-theatre menu from 5-7 which is worth checking out. Overall, this is a great place, parking was easy to find and it is a few blocks from the metro.

Slow start ... but wait...after the spinach salad which menu omitted one ingredient, farro grain. The spinach almost sunk with the dressing. At this point I was giving a three but held my tongue. THEN, The Hawaiian Sea Bass was delivered on a raft of polenta surrounded a circle of al dente green beans floating in a delightful sauce. AND ... it was perfectly cooked AKA, not over done. Score, a five. Pre theater dinner. Had to bring dessert home!!

This place needs a space heater. It was 30 degrees outside, and inside it must have been 45. My toes froze and I wore my coat the entire breakfast. They charge $5 for coffee and they don't notify you of the charge until you get the receipt (there's no pricing for it on the menu). Service was meh, my water got refilled only when the check came out, and it was just an overall meh experience.

Amazing food and service. Farm to fork. I had the Caesar salad and the lamb.
