Jake’s Del Mar brings new American cooking to the edge – to the water’s edge that is. Located right on the beach in Del Mar Chef Duvinh Ta uses fresh, seasonal products as the inspiration for updating classic preparations of fresh fish, shellfish and premium meats. The lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch menus showcase clean, eclectic flavors and local, sustainable products that are complemented by Jake’s jaw dropping location on the sand. The nightly Chef’s Special is a seasonal creation that features the best seafood, meats and produce available and through the Legacy of Aloha program, Jake’s donates a portion the proceeds from the Chef’s Special to the San Diego Food Bank.

When we visited lunch service had ended however that did not stop us from ordering appetizers and drinks at the bar. Food was excellent as was the service. Great views from the restaurant. Will find there again on my next visit to Del Mar.

We have visited Jake‘s about 5 times ( once a year when we come from Europe to visit relatives ) .Today was the first time we were disappointed ! Service was very bad. We didn‘t get any water although we had ordered it ! No bread as usual as we were used to. The table was not cleared for a long time before we had the main course ! And last but not least it gets louder every year in this restaurant ! It‘s hard to have a quiet conversation in this restaurant ! The food was still good, although even the original burger has changed and has not the good and special buns anymore ! Sorry to say that but this was the last time we visited this loud restaurant were obvisouly the waiter were not interested in us at all !!!

Beautiful, busy seaside restaurant with a modestly priced menu for the area. Use the valet as parking here is very limited. Nice staff, good seafood and exceptional bread.
