J. Gumbo's Nashville

Was staying nearby at the Doubletree and just happened upon this place. What a great find! I had the gumbo and the crawfish cheese dip. Both were excellent. I'm not sure what happened in the past with other reviewers saying the gumbo was bad, but I' consider myself quite a gumbo lover and have spent loads of time in NOLA and I thought it was excellent. Prices were reasonable and the girl working there was very friendly. Would definitely go back.

Love this place. The bowls are tasty and filling. Only complaint is the limited hours.

If you've ever had a craving for a pile of rice and chicken, then this is the place for you. Their gumbo and jambalaya is good too. PoBoy is a bit disappointing though.

What a waste of my time. I didn't realize their first location got closed so I made it to the second one before they closed. The doors were locked and someone walking around on the phone and would not answer the phone or the door even though it was still not even 5 o'clock. Very rude. This was the first time I had a chance to come by and try their gumbo but I won't waste my time for another try

For a place that has Gumbo in their name, they do a poor job of making it. Today's batch the roux was burnt. Ruined the flavor. Something about using kielbasa in gumbo does not really set well either. With so many locally available sausages. I did have the Etoufee & Chicken Red Hot, which were really good. They only get two stars since their star item, Gumbo, was so bad.

Good Gumbo. Going to try the rest of the menu over the next few weeks.

Driving by and saw this new place in my neighborhood today. So excited for something new and was not disappointed. First, the staff was awesome friendly and eager to let me try a sample of anything I wanted. The flavors were so spot on, completely amazing. My new favorite spot in the neighborhood, I will recommend this everyone and towards the top of my list in Nashville. Great Job guys!

Great spicy cajun food at the eastern end of the Arcade in downtown Nashville.

The service is nice and friendly. They gave me some free taste test and everything was great. The price is perfect for lunch around $6.50 per meal and included a free peach cobbler which taste awsome. They even have a vegan plate. I highly recommend this place.

Absolutely delicious!!! Voodoo Nachos were amazing. Watch out it has a small kick of heat with a big flavor to balance it out.

I can’t say enough about this restaurant! This restaurant is fantastic! The server with the purple hair has wonderful costumer service skills. She’s very friendly every time I come in. The Bumble Bee Stew is a must try! It is my favorite.
